1. Re: [OHCLER] Sorry About That [1]
Suspicion that Ignatius was not of our line. Yes, I know of the Greene co., PA, Rosses and Ten Mile. Pardon if I seem a bit terse, but we're moving our household to retirement digs, and my time is very limited, my days VERY full of moving activities (we're partially moving ourselves to save money). Mason Co,Va,,I guess was all n e Ky,and was formed by 1788. Thinking it was 1792,that it became Mason Co,Ky [Ky formed] Fleming Co was cut off to the s e in 1798. Bracken Co was cut off to the west in about 1798. Lewis Co was cut off to the east in 1806. Then the lightly populated, and rugged Robertson Co was cut off in Civil War POLITICS. 1861+ [It's few people had few slaves, and added another Northern vote in the Ky statehouse. 3. Re: [OHCLER] Miller's of Clermont Co.Ohio [1]
"The" Walter Griffith" preformed some marriages in s e Clermont. Namesake of Walter Griffith Miller. I found an 1821 Griffith to a widower marriage he preformed as minister of gospel. About the end of WW II Tommy Miller, and his daughter,b abt 1941,was a neighbor of ours. He moved back near-in Chilo,Franklin township. Til about 1818,Washington twnsp,Clermont was big. It was twice reduced to the east,in 1818. Brown Co,and Franklin twnsp,Clermont were formed. Franklin is the south east most of Clermont,
4. [OHCLER] Thanks [1]
Thanks Herm: Your answer read and well received. You named several sources, and the one in particular, who evidently had representatives there in Clermont Co Ohio "just before" era of the collection and printing of the History. The Donhams also sent a good number of representatives to Clay Co Ind, but long before the History. As you say, it may have been nothing more than someone gathering info, that lead to old court/tax/etc books listing "squirrel kills", or some such. I noted many years ago, the tax reco
5. [OHCLER] "They" moved on WEST. [1]
The Battle of Fallen Timbers in nw Ohio was 1794,and 1795 led to the Treaty of Greenville. I use the 1795-96 winter as 'a' date for the earliest settlement of Clermont -safely. But I know Covalt's Station, and Round Bottom Station were about 1791,a mile west of Milford,Clermont. And Feagin's and Buchanan's Fort, near Germantown,Ky to the south east. And we have a mid 1802 census of males,to see if present Ohio had enough males to be cut from the NW Terr tory [1802-03 winter]. Some people quickly moved
6. [OHCLER] Turner [1]
Correction to my earlier note about the Turners buried in Vesper Cemetery; Leroy Turner is still living, according to a friend who just now caught my mistake and let me know. His wife Gladys died many years ago. And I had thought that first cup of coffee cleared the cobwebs. Guess it takes two cups! Carol in Ocala
7. [OHCLER] Sorry About That [1]
Dear Site: I apologize for any "clutter" I have placed on the site. Further, I have something to really apologize about. To attempt to "catch" a person that is always using, word for word, some of my humble research efforts and findings, BUT ALWAYS CHANGES ONE EVENT, OR ONE PERSON, OR ONE DATE, evidently to make something "fit" in their own scheme of things, I committed a crime for genealogy; - - - - - - - I changed one date, and only one date, on purpose. This, in that way too long message of a cou

Hi All, I happened onto this posting site and thought I would respond in my offer to help in Andersonville research. I am not trying to step on Sandis`s toes. As a matter of fact, I hope to meet her at the site someday and talk with someone who has as much interest in the site as I do. I am a local historian and Volunteer for the NPS at Andersonville and would like to help in anyway that I can. 11. Re: [OHCLER] 4 John Brown old Clermont land speculators [1]
There was more than 1 John Brown speculating in Clermont and Brown Co ,Ohio land. I guess John and Margaret Brown,of Mason Co,Ky refers to the Irish inn-keeper located in the 4 miles between Maysville and Washington,Mason Co,Ky. Another speculator was Ky's early senator,John Brown,of [?] Woodford Co,Ky who had a lawyer brother, James Brown,at Harrodsburg,or Danville, old Mercer Co,Ky. A 3rd lived across the Ohio from North Bend,in what is now Boone Co,Ky,adjoining Cave Johnson. And a 4th John Bro

14. [OHCLER] Ohio MORFORD & HESS families [1]
Hi I'm searching for ancestors of Susanna HESS b. 1804 in York County, PA and d. 1849 in Franklin County, Indiana. She married John Morford on June 25, 1820 in Clermont County, OH. John Morford was b. between 1795-1797 in Ohio and died 1839 in Franklin County, Indiana. Perhaps 8 of their 9 children were born in Clermont County before the family migrated to Franklin County, Indiana. There is a Samuel Hess and a "John Hest" on the 1800 Clermont tax lists and a Benjamin Hess and John Hess in the 1820 Clermon

I've studied the Sapp family many years. They were migrating with my own Capt-Lt-Rev-JP George Brown,d 1814. [That's my feeble attempt to seperate my George Brown from others] 1798,both families came north from near Boonesboro,Ky,and settled on the n Ky bank of the Ohio River, just south east of present Moscow,Clermont. 1802,the several Sapp's and George Brown moved north 5-7 miles into southern Clermont's Washington township. Lakin, Debruler, and Simmons are already on the list. If you are interested in First Families, write to me off-list and I will see that an application is mailed out to you. They are usually due (with your proofs) by August 1 in whichever year you would like. You would need to join the Clermont County Genealogical Society ($12) and send in a one time application fee for First Families. Then, the annual luncheon is held in September. The cost of that varies, but under $20 for nice lunch, social an
