I've got some papers
about lot numbers from East Liverpool. I guess if you have
specific numbers the landowners of the time, plus the "section laid
out in parnethesis like on mine owner laying it out" whom owned the
land whom laid out the lots. Then when you knew landowner, then you'd look
for his name! You'd go to Plat books at the Courthouse!!! Looks to
me to be like the one I have. See, if we all know the pattern or ways to
read the records we can find them!
Good luck, Cat
I am looking for help with one of my brick walls. I am trying to find
Daniel MESSNER, my great great grandfather, and his parents prior to 1850.
MESSNER was associated with CAPLES and LAFFER families in Missouri and
Oregon and may have known them in Ohio.
Daniel was born (6 June?) 1828, possibly in Columbiana County or near
Canton. Both locations are family history. I first find Daniel, and
his new bride, Edna, in 1850 in Andrew County, Missouri, living with Philip
and Mary LAFFER. Also in the
Does anyone have experience locating early Court of Common Pleas records in
Columbiana Co? Several deeds indicate that a family estate was divided up
by the Court of Common Pleas sometime between 1808 and 1823, probably closer
to the earlier years. Finding this record appears to be critical to sorting
out the multi-family heirs who were also living in multiple states.
Can anyone please tell me where these records are located? How are they
organized? Are they indexed? I would greatly appreciate an

anyone knows? Regiments/ what happened? General Info ya know?
And sorry if this is a repeat to other lists.
I just discovered my first
ancestor that was married to a vet of Spanish American War! Thanks,

John Frank Hamilton married Elizabeth Arnold in Jefferson Co., Ohio sometime
during the 1860's. I believe they had three sons, then Elizabeth died and
John remarried. The boys were brought back to Ohio from Iowa or Missouri
after Elizabeth's death and raised by Elizabeth's family. I have found a
death certificate for (1) George Hamilton, b. 1863, d. 1917. Possible family
of wife Ellen and children Jennie, John, Ethel and Clarence in Knox Twp.,
Jefferson Co., Ohio. Also an obit for (2) Frank Hamilton,

Hi Everyone:
The old genealogy scam is back. www.genseekers.com
Behind the password protection are links to the free

In order to get the "5-day free trial" you have to
surrender a credit card or bank account number. You
have to cancel within 5 days or you get dinged. Guess
what? The cancellation e-mail bounces. Does this
surprise you?
One person who recently fell for the come-on had
his/her account dinged not once, but twice.

I was wondering where I
might find some teaching certificates for my relation, Elizabeth Coleman.
Would the school system, have a copy or the state? She got it in Western
PA?, Beaver county, PA, but taught in Eastern OH, East Liverpool? Anything
on this subject, please post. I'm sure that I'm not the only person having
any relations having them! Cathy

While transcribing the 1856 Columbiana County estate documents for my
3X great grandfather, James NORRIS, it became obvious that a will existed
even though one was not in the estate file. The county assured me that I
received everything in the file. I am seeking advise on locating the will.

This is ridiculous! Although the president is disgraceful/monstrous/a
warmonger, of course our troops will be supported. But why did you
bring this to a genealogical site?

Goodmorning,
Last night, I completed a study that now points to Columbiana County, OH. I've never conducted research in Ohio, so I'll be studying that for the next few days. I've also never had to deal with the earlier census, and guestimating ages.
I first found William Harrah in the 1820 census ... he's there again in 1830, 1840 and 1850. He has the following known son's, according to the census: James and Samuel. There is another William, but I'm sure he's the son of James.
I am particularily look
