Hi all:
Is anyone out there working on the RADKE name in Cleveland?
JOHN RADKE born 9/13/1814 married Juliana BERGER. They both died in
Cleveland, Ohio and are buried at Lutheran Cemetery on Pearl Rd.
They had 8 children:
1. Ludwig M. Radke born 2/15/1861 in Russia/Poland. Married Emelie
Zepieus and second Louise Repke. All died in Cleveland. Ludwig had the
following children: Adam (married Emma Schimanski), John R. (married
Lillian Sasenheimer), Emma (married Frank Kelly), Bertha (married Joel A

PRESBYTERIANS. The Presbyterian Church established itself in the

developed rapidly.
Presbyterianism originated in the 16th-century Protestant
Reformation and the
teachings of John Calvin of Switzerland and John Knox of Scotland.
Its
representative form of government incorporates a "priesthood of all

Hello, I was told of this reference.
Cuyahoga County Marriage Index:
Cains C. LORD to Mary Ann CALIMAN(?), volume 12/page 221
I think he may be by gg-gf, Caius C Lord. Caius was written as Cains in many
of his military records. I hoped to find a date on this marriage. Caius was
born in 1842 Clev.
He was not married during the Civil War 1861-64, right after the War in Oct
24, 1865 he married Maria Martha Frankland. She died ca1870 and he moved. So
this marriage must be before 1861.
He never mentions her
I've walked in the the Cleveland Bureau of Vital Statistics and have gotten
uncertified birth and death certificates for a quarter a piece (quite the
bargin compared to their mail-in charge card rate of $14.00!). For a
quarter, you have to walk in though. If you go early, before 10 a.m. or so,
the line is short; it's always short for death certificates. And the death
has to have happened in the Cleveland General Health District, a good chunk
of, but not all of, Cuyahoga County. Some cities in the county ha
I don't live near Cuyahoga County either, but get there a couple of times a
year. If you find that the houses still exist, let me know and I will try to
get pictures on my next trip.
I have a large number of ancestors from the Parma area and would be very
willing to share information if you are interested. What surnames are you
searching?

Doesn't LDS have some these records on microfilm? I know that have birth

The index to "Ohio Death Certificates 1913-1927, 1933-1937" lists a
Jacob Hofmann who died
16 Jan 1937 in Cuyahoga Co.
I'm trying to locate a Jakob Hofmann b. 8 Feb 1865 and was living in
Ohio in 1912 probably around Cleveland.

Just a note to let all know that I am back at adding new Cuyahoga County
Probate Court databases to my website. Sorry for the lull during the holiday
season but we all know how hectic such times can be.
Now completing the "H" surnames for 1867-90.

I think you are probably looking for the Old Stone Church, which is the
"landmark" name for the First Presbyterian Church on Public Square. Euclid
Ave runs right into Public Square as one of its main arteries, but I can't
remember what part of the square the church is on. You can find detailed
info on the church, the square, and the early Presbyterian community through
a simple search at http://ech.cwru.edu/ , The Enclyclopedia of Cleveland
History.
This church was the second church, and
Hi Everyone,
I'm perplexed about this matter, being two hours outside of Cleveland I
always call to find out the research method so as not to waste my time
and theirs. I called last February and was told to put my name on a list
because Spring was a very busy time of the year for them and there was
already a 3 month waiting period. I opted against that. My cousin came
in from Seattle last August and went there on a lark and was told she
also needed an appointment. My sister-in-law two months ago went to ge

Pat,
Try this site at the Cleveland Public Library:

You can look up obituaries at this location free of charge. I think they
start around 1976, that you can look up and see if an obit exist. Note
the date and page number, and when you send your request E-mail
they will tend to work on those faster. You will not see a copy of the
obit at this location!!!!!! You may have to play around with the names
a little. If all fails, you may have to put in the surname only, then
Hi everyone,
I just received a second book that is a register of graduates and former
cadets of the West Point Academy. There are tons of names listed. It spans
the years of 1890-1966. If you want lookups let me know!
Thanks,

Hi Rita. Thanks for the help -- official name & location of library, etc. in
Louisville.
My "Louisville issue" is this... Johann Georg Rock was an immigrant with his
mother Barbara (Damer) Rock, sister Elizabeth and brother John. They came to
Cleveland, OH, (why Cleveland? other relatives there?).
I probably need to check city directories to see if George Rock was in
business there or owned a home or turned up on a census for 1854-1856 time
period since...
We know George Rock married Catherine Siegel in
Hi;
I only have a couple of names in Cuyahoga Co. They are NORTON and

I am wondering if someone could look up the following on the 1900 and
1920 census for Cuyahoga County, OH
Owen Odelo KASS would have been about about 6 years old in 1900( so
listed as a child, I do not know the parents names).

Hi, Laura,
I wanted to thank you publically for organizing the Cleveland Churches
and clergy for this list. I just found the church (Old Stone
Presbyterian Church, minister H.C. Hayden) in which my g-grandparents
were married. (and thanks for the prompt to re-check the site.)

Hi Group,
I knew that my husband's great-grandmother had died in Cleveland, I'd
already had her burial information from Calvary Cemetery. I went online
to check for her certificate no. and volume no. to make it easier for
those at the Society. Her last name was DiCamillo and one can only
imagine the possible mistakes that could be made on recording that name
but try as I might with asterisks and substitute letters her death
certificate wasn't listed online. She died in 1930. I wrote to the
society and asked
