Dear List,
My genealogy software program recently crashed, and so far, all attempts to
access my records have failed becaued I did not have a backup copy. Let my
stupidity be a lesson to all of you: make backup copies!! This was not a
computer related problem but with the genealogy software itself.
I am now faced with the dilemma or either re-installing my original program,
or buying a new program before starting the tedious process or re-entering
all my data. Before I make my decision I'd like some feedba

Dear Cuyahoga Researchers,
I have Connell ancestors dating back to Peter Connell, a sailor (circa
1855), whom I think is the father to Thomas F. Connell, a chief fire warden
who died in 1938, and an uncle of mine.
Another son of Peter is John J. Connell is possibly a patrolman who died in
1918 and is my direct great-great grandfather.
John J. Connell, married Sarah Costello, daughter of Thomas Costello and
Mary Bayne, whom I traced to Olmsted Township in 1880, enumeration district

The cost is $1.00 per death certificate if you have the certificate

The Ohio Historical Society Death Index
(http://www.ohiohistory.org/dindex/search.cfm) has a link for obtaining copies
of death certificates prior to 1945 at $1/copy. For 1945+ try
http://www.odh.state.oh.us/Birth/vr_uncert.htm for $0.03/copy plus postage.
For marriage certificates in Cuyahoga County, you might want to try

No, Barberton is southeast of Cleveland. I believe the county you want is

Hi, Folks...
December 9, of last year, I asked for a possible lookup in a cemetery.
Is anyone able to do this lookup, who is currently on this list?
An excerpt:
"There is a Joseph L. Weatherly buried in Erie Street Cemetery in
Cleveland, although the birth year is 1807, the death year in 1866.
He was the founder and first president of the Cleveland Chamber of
Commerce from 1848 to 1863. The records for Erie Street Cemetery
are at Highland Park Cemetery."
Thanks for any help. This is very import

Hi list,
Please put your surnames in the subject--not
some long winded thing that doesn't mean anything

Hi,
I wanted to pass on an instance that I have noticed in the 1880 Federal Census Transcription by Family Search (LDS Church). Please pass this on to the lists you belong too.
While perusing a township in Wisconsin, I noticed a pattern began to emerge. They had reversed the first and last names in the transcription. For example my ancestor was listed as:

Nora EDWARD etc
It should have been indexed as
Edward VAN HOOSEN
Nora VAN HOOSEN
I just got lucky and found them as I knew they w
