Another Fairfield Co Shoemaker, Schuemaker line... WILLIAM J SHOEMAKER was born October 11, 1844 in Lancaster, Fairfield Co, Ohio, and died 1916 in Hancock Co., OH. He married MELVINA MELISSA CRITES 1879 in Ohio, daughter of JACOB CRITES and JULIA POWELL. William was probably the son of Isaac Shoemaker, (no further information). In the 1860 census for Scioto Twp., Pickaway Co., OH there is a John Keys, a 32 yr. old farmer from Germany married to a Martha. Their children are 8, 5, and 3 yrs. old. If the children belong to both they were probably married at least 8 yrs.
