I am intersted in the Wilson families from Lancaster - particularly for that time period - trying to find the lineage for a John Wilson, who lived there from 1808-1828, roughly.
Do you have a copy of the 1850 census? What area of Fairfield County were they living? What township? or did they live in Lan

This exchange of information re. the Pleasant Run Baptist Church is
turning out to be a wonderful

Robert,
That's a good point. There were incorporation papers for a local church in my
grandmother's attic for over a hundred years and the church records for the
same church are supposed to be in another private home. We met a distant
cousin in southern Ohio who said she thought the records for the church there
were in an old abandoned grange building. Sometimes people throw these papers
away when they go through things when people die, and sometimes, especially
if the house passes down in the same f

I am looking for information on the family of Jennie (Hardesty) Rose. Jennie was born in 1877 to Cornelius Hardesty and Nancy Neal. Mrs. Nancy Hardesty's obituary of 1918 states that she leaves one daughter behind - a Mrs. Jennie Rose of Columbus. Any information on the Hardesty or Rose families would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Being a descendant of the early Ruffners, I don't believe we have now have
the records.
Having spoke recently with a current member, it is her belief that the
records have been lost.

I sent my request to the Probate Court and they sent back wills, lists of
who bought what at the estate sales, who inherited, everything. I asked for
copies of everything that was in each person's file. The cost of copies from
the Fairfield Co. Probate Court are 25 cents per page. Total cost was less
than $20 US.
The address is Fairfield County Probate Court, Hall of Justice, Main St.,
Lancaster, Ohio 43130. Very helpful staff.

Debbie,
If anyone has a date of death of Edna Troupe, perhaps a good
beginning place would be to find her obituary and the names of her
children if any and see if they might still have the records. I have
done a lot of detective work of this kind and have a large number of
church records in our church library collection to show for my efforts.
There were at least two ministers named Ruffner who are listed in my
database for this church, and one of them at least, Lewis T. Ruffner, I

at records on microfilm from the LDS, but have not been able to find
what I need. From the LDS records, I have a four digit Probate Number,
but have not been able to find the corresponding detail for that index
record. The probate information I am interested in is from 1800 to
1850. I have looked at court records and have found some will's, but
nothing that is indexed by the four digit number.

Mrs. Reynolds was my great-aunt. We have no papers. And, as most of my
friends around here will tell you, we throw nothing away! However, her home
was vandalized several times over the years and many items were stolen.
Edna Troup is still living; but she is in an assisted living home.
I mentioned in an earlier note that the church is still being used. The
church on Coonpath Road, right across from the cemetery, is where the
meetings are being held monthly.

I am looking for info on Elijah Brandt. He was not in the Civil War but
possibly fought in an earlier war, such as the Mexican War or Indian Wars.
Can you check your records and see if there is any info on him. He was from

I need some land deed transaction from Fairfield Co prior to 1825. I presume the probate court holds these records and would someone be so kind as to give me that address and any particluars about requesting? Some counties ask that you check the grantor/grantee index first. If that is so for Fairfield Co, does anyone have access to that index? Last question: do any records exist for the Pleasant Run Baptist Church and where might they be located? Thanks everyone! Geez it's
