3. Re: [OHFranklin] Old Newspapers [1]
Doing a little searching I find that the Columbus Citizen and the Ohio State Journal merged in 1959 and that the Citizen Journal was closed down in 1985 by Scripps Howard who owned it. It was, of course, always the Morning Paper and Dispatch the afternoon paper. I recall that the CJ starting being printed at the Dispatch printing plant quite a while before it was bought out. Be careful - The Citizen Journal was in existence during the 60s and 70s, so the changeover from Citizen to Citizen Journal probably occurred in the 50s or 60s. I remember getting it in our family as a child in the 60s and 70s. I just read Cheryl's letter from Senator John Carey, One thing troubles me, maybe I am naive but the death records we are trying to get are mostly 50 yrs old and older. What kind of information could these old death certicates be to anyone? Indentity theift doesn't seem to apply here. Even current deaths wouldn't really help anyone that much. What is the matter with these people. All a real theif needs to get is your License plate number and they can find out everything about you. I don't know how they do

Hi Walt: Dague is one of the ancillary lines on my mother's side; my grandfather's oldest sister Minnie married John Dague. Amen about calling Gov. Taft, Ohio is my home state and I love it, but I'm ashamed of its legislature and governor. I've lost all respect for the Taft Family. And the excuse they're using about terrorists! Please, we didn't just fall off the turnip wagon. The law won't prevent terrorism at all; the terrorists have the money and $14.00 won't stop them. 15. Re: [OHFranklin] House Bill 95 & other things [1]
Carol & All, The OHS has the earlier birth and death records for specific counties, but they aren't "certificates." They are entries in journals kept for that purpose by the various counties. For complete information go to http://www.ohiohistory.org/dindex/ and click on the links for Death Index FAQ; About Birth Records; and About Death Records. Many of us wrote our letters and email messages, and we lost. I've tried to read the actual bill, but not being an attorney or a lawmaker and not having a trai
