Welcome to the society.
Christina Rupe may be the daughter of my third great grandparents, Martin
RUPE (1765-1829) and Christina ZIRKLE (8 Apr 1769 - ?). They are both
members of the First Families of Gallia County. Martin (Pioneer 206) and
Christina (Pioneer 207). Their daughter, Hester RUPE is my second great
grandmother.
I also have Rachael WILCOX (1857), spouse of second cousin 3 times removed,
whose parents were John WILCOX b 1828 and Elizabeth GEE.

Hi Connie,
I checked the 1867-1899 Gallia Co. deaths book and didn't find Joshua. The 1870 census lists a Joshua RUPE in Meigs Co. age 15 born 1854 and a Kizyiah RUPE born 1824.

Hi,
You should move to sunny California - we've been enjoying 90 degree
days recently.
I'm related to McCalls and McLaughlins from Gallia Co.

Oops!! Didn't pay attention that the link didn't come out like it should.
Try it this way: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ourfolkstales/
The following is from a distant cousin of my husband. She has many Rupe's in
her line. Don't know if it will be of any help to you but maybe to someone
else.

Thank you all for your replies. I thought that perhaps AOL was blocking my
mail again as this has happened several times in the past. Glad to know that
you are all out there and dealing with spring. We have 20 degrees and snow
here in Oakland County, Michigan. Makes me wonder sometimes why our family left
Gallia County and moved here!

The 1870 Rutland Twp, Meigs Co, Oh Census does not list Joshua so I would
say that he died February 3, 1870.

The only Gallia County indentures I've ever seen were quite rare. I think I
found once in deeds. It's been a long time ago. Maybe they just felt the
need to have it properly recorded. I also saw some once in a Justice of the
Peace book but it was much later than when you are looking....also, I think
I've seen about a total of three J.P. books in 30 years. And there would
have been MANY more. Henny Evans

I have contributed many pictures of tombstones to the Cemetery Photo project. I feel this is a very worthwhile project that benefits all of us. But if you have done the same thing, I suggest you check to see that they are still there. This is now the 2nd time that alot of mine have disappeared. If you notice any that are gone ccntact the webmaster. Connie

Info at Betty Brigg's web site at:
http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~bbriggs/d648.htm#P1261 indicates the
wills of George Adam and Elizabeth Zirkle are found in Will Books E & P
in Shenandoah County, VA. Don't know why I didn't have this before, but
thanks to your questions I found it.

Sorry, didn't make clear that my question comes from the information in
the death certificate INDEX and I was hoping to learn whether I needed
to access the actual certificate or keep looking for the correct death
record.

Kathie,
What Faulkners are you researching. My Daniel Faulkner was in Gallia County
early.
His children were: James m/Mary Whitt - Isabella m/John Cashat - John - Agnes
m/Joseph Cashat - Margaret "Peggy" m/Seth Shaffer - Andrew m/Mary Crump -
Virginia Jane "Jennie" m/Edward Whitt (my ancestor) - Amy m/Reuben Crigier -
Sarah "Sally" m/John Wallace - William m/Rebecca Reed.
Daniel born abt 1756 & died 12 July 1838 in Gallia Co.
Is this your line?
Maxine
Sandi,
Yes, where you asked me if "the Wm. Falkner (53y/o born OH), wife Sarah
and sons Charles (9y/o) & Francis M and an older dau with her son. Is this
your William Faulkner and Rev. Charles Faulkner?", this does seem to be my
family. He was Rev. Charles H. Faulkner who married Ella Jane Nance.
Chapman, hum, I seem to remember that my Mother said that some how we
were related to the Chapman's, but she could not remember how. This might be
it.
