Does anyone have a marriage book Volume 10 July 1869-Jan 1874?
I am looking for information about the marriage of Sarah Byard and Lafayette
Russell in Lawrence County.
Who were her parents? Who were his parents?
Did they stay in lawrence County?
Anything at all about this couple would be of help.

Just putting out another message asking for help on the FRAD(D)s of Lawrence
County. I am trying desperately to connect my Comfort FRADD b. abt. 1856 in
Ohio, who resided in Lawrence County with a FRADD family. I cannot locate
her on the 1860 census. She is listed in the 1870 census at the age of 14 as
living with grandmother, Nancy HUNT. Comfort was married to my
gr-grandfather, Joseph OSBORN, by 1880, so they are in the 1880 census Law

Hi,
Does anyone know of a group or settlement of Native Americans in the
Proctorville area. I do not believe it was a U. S. Government recognized
reservation. My g-grandmother was supposed to have been raised on a
reservation in Southern Ohio.
There are no recognized reservations in Southern Ohio. I do know she was
born in Lawrence Co. in 1898. Any information about this are would be great.
Thanks,
M. Neal

Hi John:
I've only been able to trace my line back to my Great Great Grandfather
James T. MARTIN, who was born in Virginia (likely today's WVA) about 1826.
He married Mary Ann PENNINGTON (1828-1909) on 08 DEC 1853 in Scioto County
and they had 5 children: Frederick Euphrates (b. 1854), Ehihu Hibert
(1857), Sarah Alice (1859), Moses Wesley (1861) and Margaret Louella (1863).
All 5 were born in Scioto County.
James T's Civil War records state that he was born in Kanawha County, which

Seeking the descendants of Mr. & Mrs. G.O. DANA; known to be residents of
Kansas in 1931.
It is believed that one of them is a descendant of John LEWIS & Rebecca
SOWARDS of Old Greenbrier County, Virginia, Gallia County, Ohio et. al.
This is based in part on the following information:
>From pages 254-255 of the William & Mary Quarterly (dated 1931)
is a query from a Mrs. G. O. DANA, 1526 Topeka Ave., Topeka, KS. It says...
"LEWIS-SOWARDS. Wish the parentage of both John LEWIS and his wife
Rebecca SOWARDS,
Just a reminder that the April meeting of the Lawrence Co. Genealogical
Society will be Tuesday evening April 2, at 6:30 PM at Briggs Library in
Ironton.
Everyone is welcome.
