Carl,
This is precisely why these projects are so valuable so worthwhile to
maintaining Lawrence Co. history. Given this lack of information, perhaps someone
in this line will get involved and provide some information. It may be a little
late for the new publication, but a family history can always be filed with
Genealogical Soc. or the Hamner Room.

Hi Don!
Regarding the book...I'm researching the Vondran Clan and would like to know
if there are Vorndrans or Vondrans listed. It's my husband's line and would
be something nice to give to my father-in-law.
I know you are probably very busy and will get many requests asking whether
this name or that name is in it, so if you don't have time to check, don't
worry about it.
Their family is from Ohio and settled there in, I believe, 1848. I know
that one of the counties that my father-in-law asked me to

Hey all you Lawrence County roots diggers, we still want your story for the
new volume of Lawrence Co. History, especially if your line isn't in either
the 1990 history or the 1882 Hardesty History.
LAST CHANCE DEADLINE, is Sept 1.
We have extended the deadline to Sept 1 or the first Tuesday at the meeting,
but we can't go any later and get the book done for distribution in mid year
2003. So get busy writing, and email the stories to me. If you have a photo
to go with your story, please scan it
Jean,
The Ohio/Mississippi River system moves a huge tonnage of freight today, and
was doing so before the steamboats came along. They used barges and rafts to
float products and people down stream, at least during the wetter seasons.
There were times when the river was too low in that era before the flood
control and navigation dams of today. A lot of loggers went to LA during the
off season here and after the first cutting of timbers had pretty well
cleared the forests here. There are a lot of
Looking for info on Rebecca Warren. She married Bartley Rankins in 1834, and
there were at least 3 children from that marriage (Rhoda, Jane and
Perry/James Perry). She appears without Bart in the 1850 census. Her oldest
son William was my g-g-grandfather. There was possibly a 4th son, Hiram.
Later she married Henry Phillips and had several children with him. She died
at age 81, in 1901. Husband Henry predeceased her by about 1 yr. She was
living as a widow with her step-daughter Mary Phillips at the t
Hi! I descend from Lewis Fredrick and Ruth (Osborn) Griffith that moved to Lawrence County sometime in the 1820s. Fredrick and Ruth lived in Elizabeth Township initially, but at some point, moved to Symmes Township. I descend from their daughter, Ruth, who married John H. Stewart. I'd love to hear from anyone researching the Griffith family in Lawrence County. I have gathered information on the family and would love to share it. Thanks!

Can someone tell me how to obtain a copy of the adoption papers of my
father who is deceased as are his birth mother and the adoptive parents.
A relative (not a direct descendant) has a copy of the adoption papers, and

of the papers also.
What I know is the name of the adoptee, name of the birth mother, names of
the adoptive parents, the place of adoption (Lawrence Co.), the dob, the
date of adoption, a No. from the adoption papers,

My apologies to all of those that had repeats of this same
message. Because my folks are spread out all over the country, I felt it
was necessary to connect with all of the counties of Ohio. I did not
understand that I would get such unfriendly mail from some people. Some
of them were helpful.
After reviewing the Acceptable policy use at rootsweb, I did not
see anything about mass mailings. If one exists would you please direct
me to that?
