>I have never heard of a Dolby cemetery in Lawrence county. I do
know that Mt Pisgah is located in Union twp. I suggest you contact
Tom Clutters who I thought all read all of the known cemeteries in Lawrence
county. His e-mail address is tclutters@hotmail.com
Another suggestion is contact Briggs Library at Ironton at
cirblc@oplin.lib.oh.us or Martha Kounse who is the charge of
the genealogy/history room at the library mkounse@wwd.net

I suppose when the Lawrence county History website changed servers
she probably no longer has the old e-mail address. She will
be reached at Briggs address as she does work there.

Hi
Below is what I've been able to piece together (with the help of a cousin) on
Nicholas Sutherds-Southers and his son, Nicholas Southers. Nicholas #1, I
believe, is a son of William & Sarah Sutherds, who appear on 1860 Lawrence
Co, OH census & 1870 Lawrence co/or Gallia co, OH census.
Nicholas is not on either census - he may have already left home, but that is
pure conjecture. Some obit info and childrens births are listed for Nicholas
#2.
Need help connecting these two guys to William and Sarah
Dear Subscribers to the Lawrence County, Ohio Mailing List,
John CAMPBELL moved from South Carolina to Lawrence County, Ohio in
1819. In 1826, he built Union Furnace with John MEANS, another South
Carolinian.
John MEANS also settled in Lawrence County, Ohio in 1819. An
abolitionist, he brought his slaves to Ohio that they might be free.
The fact that John MEANS was from South Carolina and was an abolitionist
suggests that he was a Quaker, since there was an important Quaker
settlement in South Carolina.

Lisa,
I see in your list of surnames that you are researching the SHARP family. Do you
by chance know anything about the William Sharp who married Tempy Caulley
in Lawrence Co ca 1844 ?
The only known children were Mary B 1844 and Alfred b 1850. Any additional
information would be helpful.

My parents were in Lawrence County last week doing some research. They were told that there is a Dolby cemetery in there but that there is no record as to who is buried there. Does anyone have either the information or advice on where I could find this information? I am aware of some family being buried at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery but this is not the one being spoken of.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
