There is no Skdimore marriage listed in Licking County, Ohio Marriages 1808-1975. The other books I have are from an era too early. Wish I could have found something. Priscilla

Can anyone familiar with Licking Co. history tell me if there were any major events in the 1850s that would have killed a lot of people? Epidemics? Fires? Storms? I just found the answer to the question I posted here a few weeks ago--yes, my great-great-grandmother, Irena Margaret NEIGHBARGER, was married to someone other than my gg-grandfather (Valentine L. SPAWR) at the time of the 1850 census. In fact, I've learned that she married John GRIFFITH in 1848 and that they had two children in about 1850 and 1

18. Root/Roote family in Licking County [1]
I have recently found my ggg-grandmother in the new LDS Familysearch site--someone I thought I would never find. The information (undocumented) that is given is that Amanda Root was born September 28, 1818, in Granville, Licking Co., to Noble Root and Damaris Barrett Root. I have explored the Licking County web site and see that there was a court house fire in 1875. I'm hoping some of you experienced in researching in Licking County can help. Is there any other source out there for proving that Amanda
19. Root [1]
For Arlene on the ROOT Family--Licking Co. Transcribed Marriage Book, page 111, has Noble ROOT married to Harriet BUSHNELL on 22 Feb 1821. Perhaps she is the one who helped raise the children. Also there is a Harriet ROOT married to E. M. GUSEY on 9 Jun 1840. Page 112 has Alanson ROOT md. to Phebe WILLIAMS on 29 Mar 1827. Alanson ROOT and a William S. RICHARDS were Administrators to the estate of Noble ROOT when he died in 1831. Perhaps this will help in some way. Regards, Linda
20. REES, John Thomas; 1834-1924, Licking Co., OH [1]
Hi, I'd like to exchange info on the family of John Thomass REES, Jr. (1828-1914) and Elizabeth C. WALTON (1834-1924). John and Elizabeth were both born in the Licking/Fairfield Co. area, and moved their family to Allen Co., KS in the early 1870s. I'd especially like to learn more about Elizabeth's parents and siblings; she was the daughter of Corbin WALTON and Catharine ROOF, and I believe she had a sister named Mary (Mrs. A.J. OWEN). A family group sheet is included below. Anyone with connections, p
21. Solomon Levingston [1]
Mary, Have you tried the censuses for 1850 and 1860? In 1860 Solomon was living in Perry Township (p.88) with George, Anthony, Solomon, Henry, and Harriet, and next door to Rolla Levingston and his family (a brother, perhaps?) Ruth was not listed. I just checked the 1870 Index I have, and Solomon is not listed. The Marriage Book has a gap in the records from 1829 to 1839. From the age of son George in 1860 (25), I would guess that Solomon and Ruth were married during this gap. Linda
