3. [OHLUCAS] Info on the Web [0.984776]
Hello everyone, I hope this is ok to post on the lists. I finally got my family tree info on my website. Although I only have about 80% out there, at least it is enough for others to possibly make a connection (I hope!!). I have been researching for only 2 yrs so I don't have very much info, but it's a start. I'm in the process now of scanning pictures of people and of grave stones to add to my site. So check back if you want to see photos. My direct lineage surnames are: Warnke, Sell, Pontious, Bend
4. [OHLUCAS] Re: OHLUCAS-D Digest V00 #244 [0.984776]
Personal reasons related to the Civil War might have caused the move. Just visited Toledo and Napoleon after 25+ years away to find Maumee mushroomed, the new vibrant Farmers' Market, and the new ballpark, Tony Packo's expanding into new outlets, but the Boy Scout camp preserved, the land still the flattest possible. I have missed it. Also very refreshing after experiencing, FORTUNATELY FROM AT LEAST 20 FEET AWAY, the gypsy fortunetellers of the 1950s by the Cherry Street Bridge to find that a church
5. [OHLUCAS] Dawn's question about Civil War Records [0.984776]
Dawn - Their service records and pension records (if they filed for pensions) are at the National Archives main building in Washington DC. There is a website for the Archives that you can find fairly easily with a search engine - I believe that has the address. If you can find a pension application number (that may be available through ancestry.com, too - I'm not sure), you stand a pretty good chance of getting a pension record, but I understand that the Archives staff don't always send everything.
6. Re: [OHLUCAS] Military Records [0.984776]
Hi Dawn You can write to the General Reference Branch National Archives and Records Administration 7th and Pennsylvania Avenue NW Washington DC 20408 phone# 202-501-5170 They'll send you a form to fill out with all the information you have on your ancester. When you do it ask for Pension file, you'll get some military records but a lot more information on the person. I found a 1/2 brother to my GG grandfather that know one knew about, and the death certificate of my other GG grandfather that listed his m
7. [OHLUCAS] Re: Move to Chicago [0.984776]
One good reason would be if they were RR men. Mine moved into Toledo because of the RR, but moved out because of the RR between 1875-82. Diane Mahoney, Baltimore, MD
8. [OHLUCAS] Doel/Pierce/Holt Families [0.984776]
I am researching the Doel family. Charlotte Doel Battrick was my gggrandmother. Charlotte and her sister Emily Doel Pierce came from England in 1853. I believe they were from Wiltshire or Bere Regis Dorset England. Emily Doel Pierce brought her baby daughter also named Emily to America in 1853. The daughter Emily Pierce married Charles Holt and lived in Toledo. I am hoping that from this meager information, someone can help me with the Doel family tree. I have recently identified Charlotte and

10. [OHLUCAS] Herzig, Anna Mary [0.984776]
I don't know where my Anna Mary Herzig came from, but I've noticed there are alot of Herzigs in Lucas County. She married George Ed Palmer and they had at least one child, Homer Weston Palmer, born in 1890. Homer showed up in Sioux City, IA in 1910 working for the Great Northern Railroad from 1910 until his death in 1917. I've tried all over Iowa with no luck, so thought I would try Lucas County. Is anyone missing an Anna Herzig? Thank you, Sandi Whitty

13. Re: [OHLUCAS] Wills [0.984776]
Wills are kept in the Probate Court of the county. You should probably call them and ask the address and the fee involved, especially if you need a search. It is especially important to get the correct address, since I encountered that situation in a different county. Although the court held the probate records, the older records were kept in the "records room" on a different floor of the courthouse. It would have delayed receipt of my request, or it could have been set aside and forgotten completely.
14. Re: [OHLUCAS] Military Records [0.984776]
There was a link at the ancestry site you needed to click to order the necessary forms. You can also go to the NARA site to order the forms. That is: http://www.nara.gov/research/ordering/ordrfrms.html The fees have been revised as of Nov. 1 and are pretty stiff. The fee information is located : http://www.nara.gov/nara/newfees.html. I asked for information on the types of records available (they offer military file, pension document packet, and complete pension file) I was told that for genealogy, th

18. [OHLUCAS] Irish Book [0.984776]
Dear Listers - Anyone researching for Irish ancestors, I have found a great book on the background of the trials and tribulations occurring in Ireland from about 1820. The book is about 600 pages and I bought the paperback at a book store as I could not possibly finish when I borrowed it from the Library. "The Great Shame and The Triumph of the Irish in The English-Speaking World." written by Thomas Keneally (who was also the author of Schlinders List). LaVerne in Florida

21. [OHLUCAS] Toledo Railroad Yards, 1910-1925 [0.984776]
Dear Toledoans, Does anyone have a map of Toledo with the main railroad switch yards that were somewhere near Dana Street in Toledo, about 1910-1925/30? If you do, I'd appreciate a copy of just that area and would be happy to reimburse copying costs and mailing, or you could scan and attach to my e-mail. My dad had fond memories of there and had built a train set that was a replica of the yards, but now I'm trying to bud one, as his was lost. Thanks! 22. [OHLUCAS] St. Peter & Paul Church [0.984776]
I hope someone can help me - my great grandparents I believe were married in St. Peter & Paul Church about 1872 or 1873. I hope to write the church and see if they have any records from that date. I understand this church is on the South side of Toledo and I'm hoping someone can give me their address. I'm also writing the Lucas County Courthouse hoping they have the records of this marriage. I thought I would try both places and maybe I will be lucky at one of them. Thanks for any help. LaVerne in
