Hello Lucas Co. Ohio from Vermont, I am doing research on my FOLSOM ancestors. My gaunt was Ada May FOLSOM. She married Wilfred Alfred JONES in Toledo, Oh 28 July 1901. Wilfred was the son of Alfred JONES and Sarah Elizabeth DENNY. Wilfred was b. 15 April 1880 in Gallia, Oh. Are any of these people familiar to anyone on this list? I'm looking for the burial place of Samuel Douglas Wiggins (1797-1852). I just transcribed his will which gives one half acrea of land for a public burial place. Does anyone know of a cemetery established in 1852 about 2 1/2 miles east of Sylvania? That would be where Samuel is buried if the wish of his will was carried out. My immigrant ancestor was Johann KRUEGER (KRU"GER,) he was born 18 Dec 1831 in Germany. He died 5 Oct 1896 in Toledo, OH. He was married to Maria, who died 3 Sep 1903. Census records show born in Meklinberg or Prussia depending on the year. They immigrated about 1870 and settled in Toledo, OH. in Lenk hill area. They had 4 children that I am aware of. According to the book, "Memoirs of Lucas County" p.312, under Lutheran Churches: "St. John's, German, the first Lutheran Church on the East Side, was organized in 1862, by the Rev. John Doerfler, and it belongs to the German Iowa Synod. The church was incorporated in 1863 as the Evangelical Lutheran Congregation of St. John. I am new to this list and am interested in the Surname McSchooler. Per Civil War Pension records for Alonzo James McSchooler (alias John Smith) who died in Florida in 1893, his widow filled for a widow's pension in 1897 from Toledo, Ohio. Her name was Ermina Rosalie (Dunlap) McSchooler. She married Alonzo in Nobles County, Minn in 1880 and had two children: Edna May b Nov 1881 and Roy Leslie b Oct 1883. Mindy, In case no one else has responded, I have some info for you. There is a St. John's Lutheran Church at 708 S. Erie St in Toledo, OH. The phone # is 419-246-3384. To get additional information, you might try calling the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library Local History/Genealogy Department at 419-259-5233. They are usually very helpful.
