Though I'm not 100% sure, my husband (from Canfield) is currently a
boilerman, or to be more "politcally correct" these days, a steam engineer.
He "fires" a boiler ~ which is a huge cylinder-shaped "oven" sort of in which
water goes in and he heats that water to make steam. The steam is
transported through tubes to help the flow of liq
They have had official complaints filed against them in Michigan, at least.
They charge you to get a list of publicly available URLs, most of which you
probably could get on CyndiList for free. My advice - avoid them like the

To obtain naturalization records for Mahoning Co. write to:
Naturalization and Passport Office
Southside Annex Room 107
2801 Market St.
Youngstown, Ohio 44507
Another source indicated that the records at this
annex are only from 1875 and up. Prior to that
write to the National Archives.
If anyone else has different information let us know.

There is a book that was compiled by Mr. William T. Powers that consists of
all the reocrds he could locate in the journals of the Probate court where
these naturalizations occurred. The title is " Naturalization Proceedings,
Pre 1870 Immigrants, Mahoning County, Ohio" .
I have a copy of the book and will do lookups for anyone who contacts me OFF

I was able to find an obituary this a.m. that appeared
in the Youngstown Daily Register, August of 1881.
The obituary states that interment was in Mahoning
Cemetery.
Could someone please tell me if there is another name
for this cemetery since I was born and raised in
Youngstown and have never heard of Mahoning Cemetery.
Thank you,
David

A question:
Where would I write to obtain a copy of a

the address and is there a fee?
Any help appreciated.

Hello, I hoped to find an Article / Obit on a distant cousin from
Youngstown, OH. A cousin says John Anderberg (Anderburg) passed away about
1948 of a stroke. That there is a big column in the Youngstown Vindicator by
Esther Hamilton about the long-time music teacher John N. Anderberg and how
he would be missed. Her column was called "About Town" or "Around Town".
We don't have the article, but she recalled seeing it as a child.
Is there a death index that covers the 1948 time frame to help narrow down

If it turns out someone in your family is buried at
this unmarked cemetery, let me know. I can put you in
touch with my brother who I believe knows how to get
there. He was famous for his hiking in the woods as a
child, and he was the one who told me about this
cemetery years ago. :-) Judging by brother's condition
after his hikes, it's swampy. As Tammy said, AFAIK,
hiking is the only way to get there.

Yes, Lake Park is on the south side of Midlothian and Midlothian is the
township line. I've also 'tramped' most of the cemeteries in Mahoning
County. Unfortunately our volunteers haven't had the time to copy every
cemetery in the county, but we're working on it! We've published all the
cemeteries in Austintown, Beaver, Canfield and Springfield Townships
[including death records, soldiers grave registrations, etc. for each
township] plus all seven of the Jewish cemeteries in the county. Our

Tammy - the cemetery at the intersection of the Ohio Turnpike and Rt. 7 is
the Weiland farm cemetery and there was another cemetery near the
intersection of Calla Rd. and Woodworth Rd. that was the Buzard farm
cemetery. These were family cemeteries and they are located in Beaver
Township. Any existing records for these cemeteries can be found in the book
Beaver Township Cemetery and Death Records, Mahoning County, Ohio. This is
the 4th book in the "Mahoning County, Ohio, Cemetery and Death Record
Is the city of Boardman in Mahoning county? and does anyone have access
to a cemetery there? I have an ancestor buried somewhere in Boardman in

Trying to find the names of the parents of Joseph Jackson who came from
Washington County around the year 1800 and settled in the Struthers

Boardman is a township not a city but yes it is in Mahoning County. Its
center is at Rt 7 and Rt. 224. It Boarders Poland on the East Canfield on
the West North Lima on the South and Youngstown to the North. Boardman has 3

Park. (It actually sits on Tangelwood Dr. I believe but it is really close
to 224) This is the oldest public graveward in Boardman. It has the Founder
of the townships graves in it. Another old cemet

My ancestor, William S. Glenn has been located in Boardman Township
Cemetery. This man is my Brickwall and I have just gotten a bit of
information and I hope it will at least knock a couple of bricks off that
wall. I can relate to hiking through woods to get to old cemeteries.
Myself, and a woman in our county have been working on all the cemeteries
in our county. I have been in some tall grass and deep woods finding
graves. Our county is listed in the USGENWEB group under Tombstone

Christine,
I am interested in the Black Stewart family (Lemuel, Rebecca, William,
Samuel), the Moses and Ella Hembricks family, the George and Rebecca Logan
family, and the Daniel and Lydia Cleggett family. Would it be possible to
get a list of those bios in the book for the previous surnames?

This does not have direct bearing on Mahoning
County, but, frankly,I don't know where it
belongs. So, with your forebearance, I would
like to tap the wisdom of the internet.
I have been given a beaded pendant with the
letters "SYSI" on it. Below that is the year
"1883". Below that is a boat anchor. The
pendant is about 3" wide and 3 1/2" high.
Does anyone know what this could stand for?
Any help would be appreciated.
Sorry if this 'Off Topic' request offends
anyone.
Thanks for your help,
Could someone tell me if this is reaching the list?
Thanks
Diane
