Death certificates for people dying in Ohio between 1909 and 1944 are held in
the State of Ohio Archives, which is housed at the Ohio Historical Society
(I-71 & 17th Ave) in Columbus Ohio.
OHS has years 1913-1937 online in a searchable database
(http://www.ohiohistory.org/dindex/). The index is not always reliable, so
if you don't find it on the web site, there could have been an OCR fault in
scanning the indices from microfiche to the HTML. Years 1909-1912 and
1938-1944 are searchable on site at O

someone who died in Marion County in the 1930s. Thanks!

My grandfather, Stephen Raymond SMITH enlisted in the Army in 1916 in
Marion, Ohio. I was successful in getting his service records. However,
are any enlistment records kept in the county of enlistment ?

Age: 31
Born: Baden, Germany
Occupation: moulder (iron-molder? - glass-molder?)
Marital Status: married (could find nothing in 1860 census regarding wife's name or children, if any)"
