Hi,
I am researching Thomas Hunt from Roscommon Ireland. He had three children
Thomas, Peter, and Elizabeth. His wife's name was Eliza. I don't have a
birthdate for either of them, but their first child Thomas Jr. was born in
1845 in Roscommon Ire. Peter (1850) and Elizabeth (1856) were born in OH.
Thomas Jr. was married to Honora Gildea. Thomas Jr. died in Savannah, GA in
1892. I believe the rest of the family either stayed in OH or went down to GA
and then returned to OH. If this sounds familiar pl
Bob a couple of comments; Stearns - my wife has Stearns in Marion County,
Ohio. Mrs. Stearns was Clough / Cluff. Next comment on my web site under
1883 Marion County History is a Bio on P. K. Francis - On Oct ober 29, 1837,
he was married to Clarinda, daughter of Joshua and Phoebe (Stearns)
Armstrong -------- You may want to look at this article. There is also a
Joshua Armstrong mention in Military History Chapter from that same book.

Hi from Australia
My grandfather's uncle Anthony McLaughlin and his son were "Car Examiners" in Marion, not sure when but I suspect about 1900. Anthony died in 1913. Can anyone tell me what a car examiner is? Was it to do with the railroad?

Hello Janice,
First, get the death record. That has the
name of the funeral home. Do you know the
date of death? Place of death? If you
already know the date & place, I'll tell you
where to write to get the obituary. If you
need death record, tell me state & I will give
you their address. The death record will
also have the name & address of the person
(usually a family member) who gave the
information on the record. Basically, once
you have the death record, the rest goes
pretty smoothly, unless th
G'day from Australia
After the famine in Ireland my great grandfather William Bingham migrated to Australia. A large number of his immediate family migrated to the United States including two of his sisters Matilda (formerly Fury nee Bingham) and Dina Lavelle who emigrated to Marion Ohio with their husbands. In 1907 Matilda died. Matilda and Anthony McLaughlin had 4 sons and 2 daughters and were living at W. Church St. Marion. The only child to have married at that stage was widowed and he had one daughter
I know that in the popcorn museum (used to be post office) basement is
a fantastic archive of back issues of the Marion Star. Does anyone have
access to this to do lookups? Tom
I went to Greenlawn and asked about Bessie Siler's headstone. All they
were able to tell me was that it wasw not purchased from them. Because
it was not purchased from them, they don't have any record as to who
purchased it or where it was purchased.
