4. [OHMERCER-L] HIPPLE [1]
Have you written to the Probate Court in the county in which your gentleman died and asked if there was a will and/or estate filed? That SHOULD list his children If not, then the land deeds disposing of his property after his death should either have an executor/administrator/sheriff or heirs signing to sell... In any event, the estate or land deeds should list all heirs who survived him and any that didn't if they had heirs... Good luck! I have Bedford Co. Pa families too. Mostly down in Londonderry Twp.
5. [OHMERCER-L] Queries [1]
Listmembers - As you know, I sponsor the USGenWeb pages for Darke and Mercer Counties. This message is going to both lists. I have badly neglected those of you who only have e-mail access to the Internet since you cannot see the queries at the web site or the instructions to submit them. I have lately been sending the new queries to the list so you can see them, but I have not made it clear that you msy add you own queries to the web page. There are two kinds of submissions: an actual query and a list

12. Re: [OHMERCER-L] 2000 Census [1]
Paul, I agree, I think the way the census is taken is more beneficial to us genealogist and to the government as well. Our census now does not tell us those you are homeless, living in shelters etc. A random statistical census will only be a partial sampling of the people living here in the US and not accurate as to those living in the hills, mountains, abandoned underground tunnels, the list goes on. The last census of 1990 is not accurate either, too many people were missed. My family for one is not

Hi Roberta, From "History of Wan Wert and Mercer Counties, OH" (R. Sutton & Co., Wapakoneta OH 1882) p. 439: W. C. Miller, one of the early settlers of this county, came here in 1848, and died in 1852. His son, Ephriam Miller, whose occupation is that of farming, married Miss Ellen A. Greer in 1865. They have six children: Mary C., C. J., Martha, James F., Nettie D., and Harriet. Mr. Miller's grandfather, Henry Miller, served in the War of 1812. Ephriam was a member of Company B, 20th Ohio

21. RE: [OHMERCER-L] 2000 Census [1]
Thank you, Wally, for the reference to Richard Pence's article. This certainly helps clarify the intention of the census takers. Although the census, as mandated by the Constitution, was not intended for genealogical use, it has historically served that purpose rather well. Since we are those who fund it - first as taxpayers and second as genealogists - there is potential to help make it what we would like it to be. I agree, however, that future generation genealogists will have access to many other gove

25. [OHMERCER-L] Census [1]
Sorry, I missed your first post about the census, Since the census of 2000 won't be avaliable until the year 2,072, most of us won't have to worry about it anyway. Our whole life will be run by computers by then won't they? I wonder what the human race will be like? Sure more changes in the last 50 years than the first 150 of our country's existance. Personally, I'd like the 1930 released as well as better microfilm copies of the ones which are available. Wasn't the 1990 census a hit & miss census, wit
