The labeling of evidence with names is curious. Obviously "original" or "primary" records contain errors. Many county records have been copied over. You know this for sure when they appear in alphabetical order, smile. Even censuses were supposed to have been copied over. Tracing someone back past the 1850 census, is really guesswork. Yes you can be pretty sure they are the right people, but without the rest of the names in that family, you can't be SURE. Seems silly to label some evidence as better

Thanks to Marketta, who asks what we mean by "genealogical clues". My answer will likely start a fire-storm, but so be it. In short, there ain't no such animal as a "clue". There is only evidence.
