Are you sure it is Cherokee in Alfalfa County? The town of Cherokee wasn't established until after the Land run of 1893. The land was part of the Cherokee Nation prior to that and known as the Cherokee Outlet. Here is a history of the Cherokee Outlet prior to the land run.
