This name so far doesn't mean anything to me, but will be interested in other items you have. I am interested in John Henry Bond and his wife Mary Lutitia Wright Bond who are buried in Oakwood. They are my great granndparents. Also I am related to a woman who ran the telephone switchboard for many years. Think her name was Mildred. Can check on that. Dee Wood
7. [OKDEWEY] Dewey County History [1]
Hi Dewey County Historians, I have several photos of Taloga and Oakwood that may be of interest to some Dewey County residents. The first I will send to you is a picture of my father's barbershop on Main Street, Taloga. The sign says:" OK Barbershop, Earl Alden, prop.". I do not know for sure the identity of persons in the photo, but the children may be Earl's boys, Vincent and Eldon. I do not know the date of the photo, but I would guess about 1925? 11. [OKDEWEY] Birth Cert. info [1]
Am a little confused about the cost of a copy of a birth certificate from OK. On the form, I printed out, it says $ 5.00 per copy, which isn't too bad, but on the bottom, it says the required fee is $ 10.00. Does this mean a total of $15.00? My father was born in Dewey Co., I think, but I don't know where exactly other than OK. Would like to have a copy, but not at that price. Can someone tell me the exact cost, please? Bev in Oregon

Ten Dollars is the Fee that vital records require for a birth certificate. I do not know about postage. -----Original Message----- From: Beverlee Faulkner [mailto:herbylu@webtv.net] Sent: Wednesday, November 29, 2000 6:29 PM To: OKDEWEY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [OKDEWEY] Birth Cert. info Am a little confused about the cost of a copy of a birth certificate from OK. 14. Re: [OKDEWEY] New Dewey County OKGenWeb page [1]
Great web page. Great pictures. So sad that some people have little or no respect for their own heritage, their own history, other people's property, or themselves. I can't think of a punishment that would be appropriate for such destruction, altho horse whipping comes to mind. My father, an infant brother and his grandparents are buried in the Seiling cemetery. This family came to Dewey co., like so many other families, in the 1890s. Today we can only imagine what hardships they endured. If we think that l

17. Isaac Ballard [1]
Isaac A. Ballard, his wife Dica Ann (or Dicey), and his children Martin, Albert, Grover, Sarah (Sally), and Kittie moved to Simpson Township from Kansas shortly before 1900. Isaac and Dica were in Simpson though 1910, at least. Grover married Lulu Castor in about 1904. Kittie married John Brown Vincent (son of Nicholas and Clarissa Vincent, the founders of Vici) in 1901. Does anyone know what happended to any of these people after 1910, other than Kittie?
18. Re: Isaac Ballard [1]
There are two Castor family histories (J. D. "Dod" and Lillie Louise Smith Castor, and Herbert "Herb" and Frances Julia Hitchens Castor) in the books Spanning the River, Vol I and II, from the Vici area. One mentions a "Dr. Ballard". Herb moved to the Vici area in 1912; in 1917, he married Pearl Owens. Perhaps these families are related to the ones you are seeking. I will scan the pages and send them to you privately. 21. CARTER, J. M. - New Hermon Cemetery (Dewey Co., OK) [1]
Dear Fellow Researchers: Hope everyone had a happy 4th! I am DESPERATELY seeking assistance to find out the death date of the J. M. Carter who is buried in the New Hermon Cemetery. I believe this could the John M. Carter I have been searching for for over 5 years now. I came across some information yesterday, that led me to Dewey and Blaine Counties, Oklahoma. John M. Carter had a brother named Samuel. The family bible record shows that Samuel died on Feb 13, 1886 and John died Feb 25, 1886 - 12 d
22. Re: OKDEWEY-D Digest V04 #4 [1]
We have very little info. J. M. Carter, James Polk Carter (1876-1928), M. F. Carter, and W. Leon Carter (1904-1919) are buried in the same plot. J. M and M. F. have no dates. Dewey County was not opened until 1892. At that time Taloga, the county seat, was established. Certainly there were no newspapers nor any records from this area prior to that time. I do not think there would be a record at the Bureau of Vital Statistics in Oklahoma City. I say that because my dad was born in 1903 in Taloga and
