Am trying to locate county where "TIFF CITY" is located. I know there is a
Tiff in Carter County (and I know there are Marsh surnames there), but the
location is wrong because Missouri relative said it was not far from Neosho,
Mo -- about an hour or two because several years she and a friend drove from
Neosho and back on a pleasant day trip. Carter Co is just too far away and
the lost city site on the OK Genweb page doesn't list it.
My great grandfather William Michael MARSH moved there ca 1917-1920 in h

For all of you who have received my message re location of Tiff City in
Oklahoma. I have since determined, with help from the list that it is right
on the border between Oklahoma and Mo, formally incorporated in McDonald Co
MO. I would imagine my relative (mother) crossed the border several times
during her travels, and they stayed off the beaten path, may never have seen
signs of entering or leaving a state.
Thanks to all of you. And here I thought I had an Oklahoma connection!!

Hi Everyone--
I am new to this list and this is my first posting.
I need a death date for a Charles A. JONES b. June 30, 1866 in Iowa. I
believe he died in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I know he died after May 10, 1940. How
can I find this death date? I called Vital Stats as I was referred to that
office. I got a very unsatisfactory answer.
Thanks for any help you can give.

WE deal so often with abbreviation and scrawled handwriting that we must

simply ornamental in nature.
THE early Christians had to develop a system of signs in order to guide one

Old Tombstone Carvings:
The term "Relict" on a tombstone means that the woman was
a widow at time of death,
"consort " means that her husband survived her.
"Cenotaph" engraved on a tombstone indicates an empty grave,
with the stone erected in honor or memory of a person buried
elsewhere - often erected in honor of a person lost at sea.
Meanings of Carvings:
Arches--- Victory in Death
Arrows--- Mortality
Bouquets/Flowers--- Condolences, grief, sorrow
Buds/Rosebud--- Morning of Life or Renewal of Life
