Marti and all,
Several months ago we were all advised that we should change all pointers to usgenweb.com to org or net. I'm sure that most
Oklahoma County Coordinators tried and intended to comply with that instruction. I know I did. BUT - we are all so accustomed
to looking at our own pages that we may not have seen all the places that needed to be updated. When a person is REALLY used
to looking at something, be it a dirty floor, a messy computer room, or whatever, it's hard to see it as others see it. I

The other thing that will trip that is trying to upload at the same time
as a bunch of other folks. Especially on weekends, early morning/late
evening tends to get you thru faster.

My vote is - it's fine with me. Probably should mention to "them" though
that it isn't likely to yield any "genealogy" help. I don't know about
other co coordinators but when I see a message on any of the state lists
about a person's own gen. questions I just delete it. But - you never
can tell, someone may read it and know just the answer to that very
question. I don't see a problem with opening the chat to anything anyone
wants to chat about. Cc's who don't want to read can unsub from chat
anytime. Go for
Linnie...
I know that some folks may decide to "continue to point to
usgenweb.com", but if you go there you'll find that the website
committee has replaced that page in any event with one that just says
that the Project has moved, and try http://www.usgenweb.org or
http://www.usgenweb.net.....
That way, those who don't hear or don't care and don't change are
actually covered. But it is a bit of airing dirty laundry in public to
make users go there any more than can be helped (which will be a whole
lot mo
Hi all --
OKGenWeb now has a Guest Book, Family Bible page, new Resource Links
page, and soon as we find a volunteer we'll have a Biographies page.
Thanks everyone for the gracious way you've accepted the help of our
Page Evaluation Team - it's not always easy to have someone else
point out our errors.

Is this "incorporation" thing going to be catching? I caught some brief notes
on tn-roots tonight, that was talking about tngenweb incorporating? If it
goes this direction, isn't it going to wreck a good thing? I think I missed some
of the posts on tn,

The Dills basically took over everything Dale had, including USRoots...
The corporation DOES NOT OWN SQUAT, as far as the project is concerned.
The Dills own the usgenweb.com domain, but if I understand it correctly,
the corporation does not.
So from here, we ignore it; I just didn't want you guys waylaid by the
rumor mill, which can build some impressive Everests out of your basic
anthills.

you might as well know what it is you're hearing about.

http://www.usgenweb.com is now the home page of USGenWeb, Inc.
Sure makes it look like they own us, to my mind.

In case you haven't visited the OKGenWeb page lately -
we've had 6000+ hits since passing 100,000 on Feb 28. YES!!!
Need your opinion --
Within the past week 30+ people have subscribed to the okgen-l
list. These are potential volunteers and/or helpers, in my opinion.
Since it was earlier voted to close okgen-l to all but coordinators
and Linnie Howell graciously provided us with okchat-l to chatter
(which we don't do enough of) would there be any objection if I
suggested that these new subscribers sub
Hi all - In an effort to improve our county pages a PAGE EVALUATION
COMMITTEE has been formed. The members will be periodically
checking all of our pages to make sure all our links work, etc.
Please give them your cooperation. They have volunteered to do what
most of us hate to do -- continuously recheck all those links we've
so generously added to our pages.
