1. [OKHaskell] New to the List [1]
Hello to List members. I'm new to the list and would like to introduce myself. I am Pattsy Patton Dayley and my father John Wesley Patton lived in Lequire when he was young and he and mom (Oadie Keith Patton) moved back to Lequire. After mom died he lived in AZ with us for 4 years then he moved back to Lequire then to Kinta until he died in 1999. I still have a brother in Lequire. My Pattons came there in the 1800's. Grandpa T.H. (Thomas Henry Patton) told me he rode on the back of a wagon for the l

Thanks very much for the response, I've seen the info. on William's family in that book (it's not altogether accurate, they had thirteen children total, and didn't arrive until 1890). Do you know when it was published? My guess is the person providing the information was a grandchild, or great grandchild, who's probably still got kin in the area. There are a few Fenton's still in the Stigler area I plan to look up when I'm back there in May. Thanks again, Bob Fenton ----- Original Message ----- From: "cunni

Pattsey- Do you have any information on any Sims in Haskell County? I'm looking for my great grandfather- John Wesley Sims b. 1872 in Oklahoma or Arkansas, married to Melissa Sweeden about 1891. They had children- Eugene, Walter Amos, Paralee, Lou Ella, Loyd Lafate, Callie- all born in Haskell Co. (Stigler) John had a sister possibly named Samantha who married a Kelly and had a child John William Kelly. I am hoping to find a sibling of John Wesley Sims whose descendants may know about his family-

My great-grandfather, William Francis Finton (Fenton), emigrated with his wife Laura and their family of 11 kids, from Sebastian County AR c. 1890. Records indicate they lived in the Whitefield/Stigler area primarily, and a large number of them are buried in Whitefield Cemetery. I've recently acquired a fair amount of genealogical information on this line, which I'd be happy to share with anyone who's interested. Maps indicate there's a Lake Fenton between Whitefield and Stigler. Although William wasn't p

19. [OKHaskell] marriage license question [1]
Hi, all! (A lurker rears her head . . .) I have a question--I have a copy of my g-grandparent's marriage license (married in Stigler, 1901), and, as g-grandma was under age, it has "consent of parents on file" written on it. Would this file still be in existence? Is this something I could possibly get a copy of? Since we don't know her parents' names, other than "Collier," it would be a great find for us. Is this something to ask the OK Historical Society, or would it be a more local thing? Thank you, :
