Hi, I am hopeing someone in McCurtain County can help me find some
information about my grandfather , James Sampson Welch. Very little is known
about him other ther than his name. It is believed he was born about 1864,
place unknown. He died April 18, 1896. He was living in McCurtain County in
January 1894 when my mother was born. He married Margaret Elizabeth Duncan
about 1891. It is believed that he was half Choctaw Indian. If you can help I
would appreciate it.

Redland is in McCurtain County, east of Idabel. 7 miles east on Hiway 3 and
1 mile north. I seem to remember Thomasville being in McCurtain county, but
it must be a ghost town or was renamed.

I live in Redland, McCurtain Co., Oklahoma. It was originally named ODell
and had a postoffice from statehood until 1925. It is still called Odell on
some maps. It is part of the Haworth school district in the SE corner
of Oklahoma. It's school district covers 294 sq. miles. I have been a
teacher in the district for the past 27+ years. However, 'everyone' in
McCurtain County calls it Redland.
No...There is no town in McCurtain Co. called Thomasville. There may be a
small community (we all have o
Hi,
I thought Redland was in McCurtain county, a lot of my releatives are from
there. It is only a few miles from Idabel.
But I really don't know.

I am researching my children's Presley side of their family. Ben/Benjamin B.
Presley was their great-grandfather and so far the only information we have
is from a 1920 TX Census, 2 death certificates, 1 marriage certificate, 1
social security application, an obituary and what little is known or has been
told by the family.
Ben/Benjamin Presley dob 10/10/1850/51 in MS/TN according to the census and
death certificate. Dod 9/3/1936 in McCurtain Co., OK. A marriage
certificate shows he married Mrs. Do

Am trying to locate information on a 'Bupo' (this is pronounced Buhpo)
Anderson and his son Robert. Bupo was living in Redland, McCurtain Co.,
Oklahoma (this community used to be called 'Odell' after Robert Hughes
daughter) during the earlier part of this century. I believe his family
moved here from Arkansas, possibly the Amity, Clark Co. area but am not sure
about that. He is a cousin of my grandmother, Myrtle Mattie Martin (married
later to Marvin Junior Finney) and I would like to connect to his family.
Just heard a snipped of news about a school bus accident in Idabel.
School bus was hit by a log truck. Must have been terrible to make the
CBS news on the radio. Don't have any details. Just heard the tail
end. Any info from up there?
