Hi Dave/Cindy--and other McCurtain Co.Cousins---
I am afraid that your names do not ring a bell. I just started my own
research in the area and only know of my HANCOCKs (Newton & James Monroe)

for over 41 years.
At the peak of its operations, the Hochatown post office

What we now call Idabel was platted as Purnell in 1902 by the Townsite
Commission on the route of the Arkansas and Choctaw Railroad, then being
constructed. It was named for Isaac Purnell, an official of the
railroad. When a post office charter was sought under the name of
Purnell, it was denied because of possible confusion with the town of
Purcell in Oklahoma Territory. The name Mitchell was used for a brief
period by the railroad until it was also determined that there was a

Hi! Does anyone know if there are cemetery records for the cemetery in Wright City and Alikchi? Someone told me that Weyhauser [sp] Lumber had those records. I am trying to locate to burials, one which is likely unmarked, but might be recorded (18 December 1904). The other is unmarked, and 25 May 1927. I'd appreciate any ideas. Thanks!
