Dear List-
I received a response from ONE branch of Rootsweb and my response back to this message was NOT a pretty one. I have since written to another branch of Rootsweb asking them to do some further checking to see if the "legitimate" e-mail address is really a legitimate List Administrator.

Sharon,
It would be best that you took it up with the person themselves in
the first instance. They are legitimate.

Since it is my understanding that Morgan County WV was once a part of Frederick Co VA, I thought this post appropriate.
Hi,
My family with the surname Bohrer has always been spelled this way, however
there is a Bohrer, Borah, Borer Book 1720-1965 compiled during the years
1956-1965 By Camden Borah Meyer. The book states on the inside cover page
"The following pages contain a genealogical history of some of the
descendents of Peter Bohrer who came to America in 1750. His descendents
now spell their name
I can go back to 1753, when Alexander Oglesby buys 260 acres of land at
the confluence of Stephen's Run and Crooked Run at (what is now known
as) Ninevah, Frederick/Warren Co. Virginia. Because of the laws he had
to have been at least 21 to buy that land, making him born in or before
1732. This was Lord Fairfax's land. Alexander was a farmer and living in
Frederick Co when he purchased this tract and he would own it until his
death in 1794 at which time it was bequethed to his sons.
Alexander married H

A little history to begin with:
My mother Thelma Marie White was born 12 September 1909 at her Mother's

on a 3 x 5 card and her grandfather informed them he was there when she
was born and he named her Sarah. Her father Jesse Melvin White put her
6 sisters in the children's home when Grandma was two months pregnant
with her. She believed she last saw him at the age of two but from post

Does anyone have a list of the names of traders or teamsters, freight

during the mid to late 1700's? Also George Croghan's men working with
him in the trading business? The company traded between Philadelphia and

with Valentine and William Crawford, if any Murphy's worked for this

Hi All,
Sorry for the multiple posts but my question covers both areas.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find marriage, birth or
death info from the period of 1750- 1800. I have found my family listed
in Fred. Co, Md. in 1753, twice. again in 1757 in a letter to the
Govornor of Md in Fredricktown. The next listing is in Va. and Fairfax

I am researching the descendants of Sebastian "Boston" Medler (Mettler). Boston and Sarah settled in Elizabeth Hundred (Hagerstown) Frederick Co. after Rev. war. Then migrated to Jefferson County. If any of the information below looks at all familiar I would love to hear from you!

Lighten up, you guys, mothers have EVERYTHING to do with genealogy! Without
them there would be no genealogy, right? I began this hobby precisely
BECAUSE of my mother, because I realize her time is so short (she's in late
stages of Alzheimer's disease), and I want her and those before her to be
remembered, not just as a date on a tombstone, but as a living, breathing,
human being, who made a difference to humanity and its direction.
I see the point about sharing specific information (birth dates, ba

I KNOW for a fact - List Administrators frown on these types of postings on
a List and work very hard to discourage anything but direct genealogy
postings BECAUSE it is not appreciated by ROOTSWEB.
Everything that goes out on a Rootsweb List gets Archived and although WE DO
consider the stories of our beloved ancestors "genealogy" and interesting -
Rootsweb does NOT have archive room to save these postings.
If you ARE a List Administrator, you won't be around very long.
I am sending a "joint" letter to all of you who asked me to look someone
up.
Work will have me in and out of town for the next few weeks so it may be
after July 4 before I can start to look things up. I was inundated with
requests so please don't dispare if you don't hear from me until July. I
had no idea there would be so many folks with questions and I'm so sorry
that I can't do them all right away.
If you havn't heard from me by mid-July, please feel free to remind me of
