Is anyone aware of any existing newspaper archives for May, Platte Co., MO. I'm looking for an obit for my great-grandmother CATHERINE MELVINA BROOKS SURRITTE who died 14 June 1933 in above location. She is supposed to be buried in Hampton Cemetery but there are no on-line listings that I have found for this cemetery. Any enlightenment as to avenues I might follow for more information is greatly appreciated.
Dear List Members,
Does anyone on this list have any old newspapers or obits from the Rochester/Helena townships (Andrew County) from the years 1882 - 1886? I am searching for information of my great grandmother's death. She died in Rochester, Mo. Her married name would have been listed as Mary Belle Register, but may possibly have been listed as her maiden name - Mary Belle Tetherow. Her first name could also be listed as Mary or Belle.
She died sometime after her daughter (my grandmother) Lula Regist
Hey Juanita,
Those will do when you can get them out of storage. :o)
Any news article will do, as long as it's about Missouri I would think.
Doesn't have to be just obits.

Hi, I'm still alive also!
I have a request. If anyone lives in Schuyler Co, or has access to records there. I need any articles about Catherine Case, Sarah Ellen Case or her children Perry & Sarah Ellen Case. Her 2nd husband was Samuel Wyatt & they had one daughter named Mary.
Catherine may have died between 1860 & 1870. Sarah & Sam married about 1864 or 1865, if I remember correctly. They lived in Independence, Schuyler Co.
Thanks very much. A prosperous & healthy 2007 to us all.
Hi Dana,
Is there any more on the mail coach robbery? My gg-grma lived in Independence at that time. The family name was CASE. Mother Sarah Ellen, dau also Sarah Ellen, & son Perry. About that time Mother Sarah married a WYATT, & they had dau Mary. If you run across any of those names I would be most interested. I would pay you to copy the newspaper & send it to me.
Thanks so much.

I went online to Platte County Cemeteries and located the Hampton Cemetery.
There is no one listed by the name of Surritte or Wallis (the family with
whom she resided in 1930). Is it possible there was no one to buy a
headstone in the middle of the Depression? Another route you may take is
the Missouri Historical Society located in Columbia, MO on the campus of MU.
(basement of the Ellis Library) They have extensive microfilm of newspapers
across the state of MO. Hope I've been of some assistance.
