Dear O'Leary list,
We seem to have a few still on the list so I'll re-ask an earlier question
about the family contacts for the descendants of William Basil O'Leary and
Persis Rollins Matthews.
O'Leary Picture Request
I have just discovered a 1960 letter that tells me that an O'Leary has a
photo that I would dearly love to have a good scan of.
Aaaron Matthews (1808-1876) married Sarah Ann Hibbard (1815-1849) in 1833
and both lived out their lives in Camden, NY. I have a photo of Aaaron and

O'LEARY / O'BRIEN; Miltown Malbay, CLA, IRL, 1830 - 1890
Greetings. I am researching the family of John O'Leary and Mary O'Brien [both
born between 1820 and 1845]. The lived in Miltown Malbay, County Clare,
Ireland at least between the years of 1840 and 1890. John was a weaver. Their
children, from research by the Clare Heritage Society, included: Ellen,
Bridget, Mary, Susan, John, Margaret, Catherine, Thomas, Honora, and Patrick.
Patrick O'Leary married Nora Finn and lived in Somerville, Cambridge, a

Dear OLEARY Listers,
Forgive the long post which follows, but I am going to take up the
challenge (above)! I am putting as much detail in my roll call as
possible in hop
Hi List members!
I am researching the David J. O'Leary (born: 9 May 1834) and Margaret
F. Hussey/Hussy (born: June 1842) family. Both were Irish immigrants
in the 1850's. They started out in Chicago and eventually died in Oak
Park, IL in 1923 and 1918 respectively.
David supposedly threw the "O" in the ocean when he came over so we
find him referred to as both "O'Leary and Leary." His father was
named Daniel.
Margaret Hussey's father was John Hussey and her mother was Mary
Baker.

Hi Everyone,
I have just started this branch of my family. I have written the
Town Historian for Tuckahoe, N.Y. and I am waiting for a reply.
My ggrandmother was 96 years old when she died in 1945. Her
father was a Leonard and mother was a Leary. I do not know their given
at this time.
My ggrandmother was Anna ( Leonard) Moran who married a Martin
Moran. Anna and Martin had three children. Martin, who died young,
Margaret (Birdie) and Lauretta.
I thought all this was well documented and
I only have a record for one of my O'Learys.
Julia O'Leary Reagan had a daughter born in New Orleans in 1853. I don't know if she came into the USA as Reagan or O'Leary - I don't have a marriage record. Her husband died in the epidemic during October, 1853 in New Orleans and she later went to Fountain County, Indiana, where she married Michael Quirk in 1855
Therefore, all her descendants had the surname Reagan or Quirk.
Julia was born in Ireland in March of 1826. Her father's name was Arthur.

Dear Ida,
If I were you, I would not limit myself to just looking in Nova Scotia. the
O'Leary's and Leary's also hail from Prince Edward Island. As a matter of
fact, it was a visit to O'Leary, PEI, that prompted me to start my genealogy
research. I wanted to find out if the Michael O'Leary the town was named after
was one of my ancestors. He doesn't appear to be, but I haven't stopped
digging yet. Good luck.

Hi,
My g.g.g. grandfather was William LEARY born c.1797 at Walpole St. Andrew,
Norfolk and died 27th March 1886 at Tilney St. Lawrence, Norfolk. On the
1851 Census for the area, William was a farmer of 10 acres and his wife
Susanna is shown to originate from Wimbotsham, Norfolk. He is also recorded
as being a farmer in White's Directory for 1845. Their children were all
born in Tilney St. Lawrence and were Susannah born c. 1827, William born c.

My great grandmother, Catherine O'Leary (b. 1842, South Wales; d.

They are listed in the 1870 census i

I am sorry that I do not have this more organized, but between our new baby

mostly anecdotal, but if anyone thinks there is a connection, I will supply
further details.

I have another O'Leary line on my fathers side. Very difficult to find a
match. Dennis O'Leary emigrated from Cork in 1857 when he was 17. To New
York without any other family members. Moved to Boston area and married a
Carlow girl there. They both drowned in Horn Pond, Woburn, Mass on the
Fourth of July, 1877. They were 35 and 27. Their two toddlers were also on
the boat but were rescued. One was my grandfather Michael O'Leary. He was
raised by his Godparents named Canniff. The Cannniffe family

I recently sent to the Ohio Historical Society for some death certificates
for my O'Leary's, and they were extremely helpful. They not only sent the
certificates that they could find, but also included the "O" index pages
from the death records for years 1908 through 1917. There are several
O'Leary's on these pages from various cities in Ohio. If they can be of use
to anyone out there just e-mail me.
