Hi Steph,
Great site describing your project Steph,
When I browsed through the 500 names on the list of families you are looking
for information on
I found 200 of those surnames in my family tree as original settlers, their
descendants and related families who settled in the townships of the
original Durham County area in the 1800s.
As explained previously I'm unable to be of much help with the project due
to health concerns.
** If a project volunteer sees the name of a particular person or family
Not yet available on microfilm -- need to apply to Registrar General of
Ontario, but only eligible if you are a direct descendent and are next of
kin.

Hello Steph
If you're not too swamped, from The Canadian War of 1812, please look for
Barnett Vanderburgh and Isaac Vanderburgh and any other Vanderburghs
you may find. Barnett and his brother Isaac were with the York Militia.
In your Durham County residents, please also look for the Vanderburgh
name - I know of one brother who was in Huron.
And this is a long shot, does TW Davies/Davis appear, 1840-60s, in
Durham County Ontario Residents 1800-1927? He was my GGrandfather.
Thank you.

Hello Everyone,
Recently I requested info on whether a book was in the works on the above
areas, that would include information on the inhabitants of the area only.
I have recently found out that the authors that have previous written books
on the area have no plans to create such a book.
I am interested in "Compiling" a book on the subject of the individuals and
families that resided in the above areas, between the early 1800's and the
early 1920's.
What I am proposing is a non-profit book, compiled by m

County prior to it becoming Durham Region. This will include, Cartwright,
Manvers, Cavan, Darlington, Clarke and Hope.
And no the goal is not to include every family that lived there.
It has been suggested that we publish on CD in PDF forma

Hello everyone,
Well I have received a few requests to expand the area of the book. So have
decided to change the location to all of Durham Region.
That is not to say we are going to include every person who lived there, but
anyone who wishes to submit info from the Durham area, is welcome.
My only plan is to get the books into libraries so that future researchers
will have the resource. Family stories, genealogies etc are welcome. We may
have to edit, but it can be done.

I am seeking information on the family of Henry Mills. According to Henry's
obituary, he was born in Durham County, Canada, on March 11, 1835. His
parents are described simply as "Vermonters." He had an older brother, Alex
ander, born about 1831, probably in Vermont. Henry's parents are said to have
moved to Canada shortly before Henry's birth. Henry left Canada at age 17, and
married in Gouverneur, St. Lawrence Co, NY, in 1856. He married Esther
Aldous. Henry was in IL in the 1860 census,
I am looking for the father of Calvin Topping born March 14,1841. He had 7 children, Immigrated to Canada 1844 at age of 3. Need his birth state and county in USA.
Thank You Barbara Topping
