Hi Arlene, Thank you for Michael's URL. Yes, I have seen Michael's work and remarkably have yet to find a connection between our families. On a regular basis I am providing Oregon obit lookups for Marion County (Salem area) back to 1855 and Portland area back to 1984. Once a month I visit the State Library where I am able to retrieve obits for most areas back to the mid 1800s. But only if a volunteer is not otherwise available for that area. As time permits I am also willing to visit local funer

Hi Lynn, I saw that you do obits for the newspaper. Which papers are you doing this for. I have just start to do indexing for the Canby Herald. We have been lucky that another volunteer has been doing the obits for a few months. So she is way ahead of me. This is a new progam for our library. How did you find out about this program. I do have Allens in my family tree. Ours start with John Henry Allen b 25 april 1862 d. 22 feb. 1927. He was married to Daisy Helen Wallace. He married into our robbins t

They still hold services at the church but I am not sure what denomination it might be now but at that time it was a United Brethren Church. My parents attended church there as the church they usually went to was considered too much of a drive at that time. This community is located in Clackamas CO and is not too

Oregon Donation Land Claims Volume II shows Ezra Stout secured claim #4343 March 21, 1853 (affirmed by Daniel Wyland with Samuel Gribble - my family) so they must have been friends, if not related. Also, Ezra Stout affirmed, together with Coleman, Bucker, and Mattias Riss, when John Wyland signed Oath of Allegiance February 02, 1865.
