Hello,
I'm hoping someone one the list can help me regarding the laws in PA. What
if someone sold a piece of land in abt. 1860 to the town for the purposes
of a cemetery. (It was sold for $1.00) The land documents state
specifically that it was for a public cemetery. There were numerous
burials there but it appears that after a period they stopped the
burials. Since then the farm surrounding it has kind of taken over. The
stones were removed. From what I've gathered, the land still is owned by
I've just added Melrose Cemetery of South Fayette (Bridgeville), Allegheny
County, to http://www.geocities.com/cemsearch/
There are quite a few surnames there that I've never seen online before.

Hello Lou,
I found my detailed street map book of Chester County... sorry I was
off by an exit or two. Route 10 is what you cross before you come to
the beautiful winding road that takes you right across Octoraro Lake.
The route that goes across Octoraro Lake is NOT Route 10 but Route
472, also called Lancaster Pike (in Lower Oxford in Chester County)
but then called Kirkwood Pike (where it is shown on the map in
Lancaster County).
This ADC "Chester County, PA Street Map, 10th Edition" book (about
$10)
The following information is the cemetery data and what genealogy notes I
have on 44 individuals buried in the CARPENTER CEMETERY, located at the
Intersection of Routes 524 and 347 in Scott Township, Lackawanna County,
Pennsylvania.
I also have pictures of many of the headstones and can send them to any
one that would like copies.
In return I would appreciate any information regarding the Carpenter
family that resided in Carpenter Hollow, which is about 2 miles southwest
of Factoryville, Wyoming County (
I am attempting to find information on cemeteries located in East and South
Huntington Twp. of Westmoreland Co. Does anyone know if the WPA did readings
of cemeteries in this area and if so where would you find copies of the
records they produced? Are there any books which contain records of these
cemeteries?
I will appreciate any assistance you can offer. Thanking you in advance for
your help.
Barbara

Hi to everyone on the list, I have recently subscribed with a question that
has been unable to be answered by any member of my family for the last 10
yrs. In 1944 one of my Ancestors had 8 graves removed from Mt. Moriah and had
them reinterred in a common plot at Forest Hills. This must have been costly
and no one has a clue why. Could someone on the list come up with a logical
guess? Is this something that did happen in other Phila Cemeteries?
Thanks for any assistance,
Ed

I have an ancestor that is buried in the Octoraro Presbyterian
Cemetery in
Chester, PA. Hope to visit PA next year. Can someone give me
directions to
the cemetery and/or is there a directory for this cemetery?
Thanks,
My greatgrandfather: Michael O. Furin was born in the Austro-Hungarian Empire on or about October 21, 1870, and died June 26, 1926 in Greensburg, PA, and was buried at the Greek Catholic Church Cemetery in Trauger, PA. (The priest at that church will not look at his church records to assist.)
The PA Death Certificate is very poor in quality and hard to read.
I would absolutely love to obtain any cemetery or church record, which will surely provide clue to follow up on the family I've sought since 1961.

In reference to your email about Cemetary in Jacobus.....I live in York
county........below is what I have on the churches in Jacobus....This is
all that I show.....I think I had already replied to your email on the
YORK COUNTY DIGEST site....as you posted a query there too.
Best way to find the info...is to call the church and ask for assistance.
If they have the person buried on the land, in most cases, if records
are up to date and accurate, they can let u know the plot and even
location they're at.
Hi all,
I've just put what I could of the Old St. Luke's Church Cemetery online with pictures. It is partial but I'll be getting more as I can.

I have a photo of the tombstone, but cannot read it and think I may have the
wrong data from it.
would someone please go to Woodward Hill cemetery and look at the tombstone
for Robert Atkinson. it is an older tombstone, upright slab form. it is
beside a newer, block tombstone for Elias Bonine and his wife Jane Atkinson,
a daughter of Robert Atkinson. on the other side of Robert's tombstone is
another old upright slab marker, but much smaller, for a granddaughter of
Robert's who did not survive childhood, li
