Does anyone know why other cemetary friends groups seem to be making a difference for their cemetary while Mt. Moriah's Friends can't seem to make any headway with their cemetary? Is it because of the ownership?

Karen,
If you will go to the archives of this list you will find out lots and lots
of info on the owners and what is trying to be done about the deplorable
conditions there.
I called the office about 2 months ago and got a warm polite woman that was
very helpful. I was stunned since the last phone call I had made in 2004
was not nice at all. They must have had a change of office personell.

Ann,
Has the grass on the Delaware County side been cut? The last time I went there (about 1 1/2 years ago), it wasB about 4' high. B Hopefully, the new office personnel is pushing the grounds crew to do a better job in keeping the grass cut. I think if the owners took a better care of the grounds there would be more support for the cemetery.

For those of you who may not have seen them, there were a couple of
stories in the New York Times in recent weeks about efforts to
restore various cemeteries. Thought they might be of interest to you
all.

Does Mt Moriah even have a "Friends of" group?
Does it even have real ownership? I thought I read something that claimed that no one knew who owned it.
I just emailed Laurel Hills for some information and got an immediate response. The person was kind, considerate, articulate. Looking at their website, it appears they have tours and Gala's (The next one is at the Crystal Tea Room). They realize the significance of their historical presense.
Whereas about 15 years ago, I wrote Mt. Moriah for inform
Great articles. This may be of use in Mt. Moriah but also Greenwood Cemetery in Philadelpia in which myself and others are trying to save.
Thanks for forwarding.
