If anyone has this book, I am looking for David and Jeremiah Eaton who are found in Fawn Grove on the 1790 census. Hello again Bob: I do not know about any Quaker connection. I do know that the John Griffith gave the land for the cemetery and the church named Roundhill and the church was Presbyterian. There was a son David and I do have other sibling names. John Grifftith owned land called Hopyard. I am still trying to piece this together. There are no stories in family to draw from that I know of. I know that the McCann's are buried at Roundhill in that generation and at New Freedom for the next generation

:Hello Doris: This is what I have. Abraham Mayer and Elizabeth Erb married August 23, 1809 in Lancaster County. They had four children. Elizabeth who married Frederick Aldinger, John born 1810 in Lancaster married Susan Blair and he died in Muscatine Iowa, Anna born May 1818 and married Mathias Albright, and David married Sophie Bachman ( might have been Sophia Haas, George Hass' older sister and widow of Adam Bachman. Abraham and Elizabeth migrated with two of the children to Iowa. Where John die

Hello Debra: I have Emma Ellis b. 1879 and died 1943 Married September 8;, 1889. She is married to Edwin Aldinger. In reading this she may have died in 1958. Edwin died in 1942 sometime before October because that is when my grandmother came back to our house and she had been gone since June. I have Alice S. Grim married October 5, 1893 and that is all I have. But Charles Aldinger was living in Charleston South Carolina. I believe that he had a cigar factory. I think I have a listing of children

I found this in John Gibson's, "History of York County, Pennsylvania," 1886, 2002, pg. 738, 739, 740, 748. Lower Chanceford Twp. was "erected" in 1805, by petition from citizens. "The name 'Chanceford' is a compound word meaning a chance ford. The word was first known to history in 1745, when, by the division of Lower Hellam Township, the upper section of it, upon petition to the court, was called by the early Scotch-Irish settlers 'Chanceford' and the lower section'Fawn,' after which event Lower Hel

Ray & list, Gibson's book has the same info as Prowell's concerning John Kelly, killed at Kittanning in Sept. 1756, however I don't think the two John's are the same person. I did a google search for "Colonel John Kelley" and found some clues as where to look further. I didn't read in detail all that is posted, there may be other info. history & heritage of Central Pennsylvania's Susquehannah Valley http://www.visitcentralpa.org/HISTORY.htm Colon
9. [PAYorkGEN] Re: PA-YORK-GEN-D Digest V03 #43 [1]
Thanks for responding Sue. Unfortunately I do not know what John Kelley's military exploits were. In the book I referenced," History of York Co.,Pa", by J. G. Prowell, in the section on the French and Indian War it states that "John Kelly of York Co. was killed 9/14/1756 in the attack on Kittanning". He was a member of Capt. Hance Hamilton's Company. I do not know if this is the same "Col. John Kelley of Militia fame" that the author describes in the section on Lower Chanceford Township. I doubt they

Hi, Kaye: Thanks for responding. Your Emma Ellis and Alice Grim seem to be a generation younger than my Ellis and Grim. I have a few families of these lines who did cigar making, also. If you learn anything about the birth families of these two, I would appreciate hearing about them. Thanks, again. Mr. Kelly, I am new in research in PA. I have not heard of "History of York Co., Pa," by J. G. Prowell. Would you please check for HOUSTON or HUSTON? I am in Nashville, TN so looking up is difficult. I am just wanting anything concerning my family. Gea Jolley

HI - Dr. Neal Hively writing. I have all of the Kelly land plotted out - see my website for index info - But - the Kelly's had land on Muddy Creek that divides East Hopewell Township from Chanceford Township. The Hopewell's book probably has the best summary of his land. There are also accompanying "connected survey maps" to show how all the original properties fit together. Hi Bob, Thanks for responding. I don't know what the author meant by "Militia Fame". The Thomas Kelly you noted in the 1783 Lower Chanceford Tax List has a son John born around 1755 that was Executor of his Father, Thomas's Estate in 1786. I believe this family had been in Chanceford Twp., York Co. since at least 1767. There is an Application for Warrant by Thomas Kelly for 300 acres in East Hopewell Twp. later called "Goshen", and patented to son John in 1789. There are numerous Applications for Warra

I am seeking information on the "Col. John Kelley, of militia fame, who owned a large tract of land surrounding what is now Laurel Station on the York and Peach Bottom Railway. He had a son Thomas Kelley, a lawyer, and daughter Mary who married Dr. Mc Donald of Fawn Township." This informatiom comes from the book, "History of York Co.,Pa....", by J. G. Hi, Kaye: Sorry, I don't have any of your specific names in my family lines, but the Emma Ellis and Alice S. Grim caught my attention. I have a Lyde J. Ellis and a Lydia A. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks, Debra On Friday, Jun 20, 2003, at 13:07 US/Eastern, CEHAUGHEE@aol.com wrote: > We are going to
