Susan:
I have been researching McFarland, but I do not think MY McFarlands are the same
as yours, because mine moved from West Virginia to Beaver County sometime around
1900.
Specifically, I am researching the family of Robert L. McFarland (b.1857).
If you think there might be some connection, let me know.

Looking for Units from the West. Pa. area that fought in the battle of Ft.
Donelson Tenn. Feb 17, 1862.
My ancestor was wounded in that battle and died of wounds during the night of
Feb 18, 1862. This information is from a family Bible and I have never been
able to find which unit he served in.

Hi,
I am looking for rosters of units (regiment perhaps) from Beaver County.
In particular the roster that would include Col. Robert's unit at the
Gettysburg. It is my belief that these brothers were in Col. Robert's
regiment. They fought at Gettysburg, one brother John Sutherland Bell
was killed and the other George Allison Bell was captured, interned at a
POW camp until the end of the war and died in Feb 1866. Both served in
Pennsylvania Infantry regiments (and both are on the Pennsylvania
Monument at G

Did anyone from Beaver Co answer you? I have a cemetery listing
of Old Mill Creek in Hookstown and these Conleys are listed:
Conley, Catherine bn 1842 d Dec 29, 1863 w/o Samuel Conley

I wonder if this Samuel was her husband? Big age difference!
There are many Ranseys in this area. Hope this is of interest.
Didn't find any Georges.

I have reason to believe that my ancestors who moved to Washington County, OH
from Beaver County, PA circa mid 1830s were Native Americans. The surnames
were GODDARD and HACKATHORN. What tribes of Native Americans would have been
in that area in the late 1700s to early 1800s? What resources are available
to follow up on this lead?
Sondra Hogue Taylor
Sondra,
Do you have a William Hackathorn who married a Nancy Beegle? Probably
around 1873. She was from the Georgetown area and moved to Washington Co.,
Ohio where they married.

Hi Folks,

I'd try again. I am searching for information on Simon and John
BENNER from New Sewickley twp., Beaver Co. John was born
c. 1805 and Simon was born 1808. I think they were born in Beaver Co.

I am searching for information on their parents. I recently learned from
records at St. Paul's in Zelienople (Butler Co.) their na
Hi
I am researching the Samuel Lyon family of Ohio Township, Beeaver County.
Samuel was in the 1850 census. The census indicates he was born in
Pennsylvania in about 1800. As there was no record of him in the 1860
census, I believe he died some time between 1850 and 1860. The census shows
Samuel and wife Catherine (b. 1805) with the following children: Mary b.
1825; Sarah b. 1828; John (my ancestor) b. 1832; Susan b. 1833; Austin b.
1835; Samuel b. 1837; Isaac b. 1841; Elizabeth b. 1843; and Matilda b.

Hi Phil,
The rosters for all of the companies in the 140th Regiment, PA Volunteer
Infantry, were published in two articles that I wrote for the Western
Pennsylvania Genealogical Society Quarterly a few years ago. The portion
you are looking for, Company F, was published in Volume 22, Number 1 in
Summer 1995. This article covered the rosters from the following:
Company A - Greene County
Company B - Mercer County
Company F - Beaver County
Company H - Beaver County
Company I - Beaver County

Phil,
In checking around:
I found this:
John S. Bell 140th PA Regiment Company "F"
Enlisted 8/21/62 as Private
Was killed 7/2/63 at Gettysburg, PA
This is only a possible lead for you!! What makes a a very probable hit
is that Colonel Richard Roberts was in this unit.
Colonel Richard P. Roberts of the 140th. PA
Killed at Gettysburg
July 2nd. 1863
These are the words composed by Samuel P. Bate in the History of Greene

Nan,
if i remember correctly , the Pine Grove Church used to stand across the
road from the cemetery, and i believe it was maybe a Baptist church or maybe
Methodist, but NOT Presbyterian. it was near Raccoon Creek, and i think i
remember there being a few Turners, as well as a few other surnames, buried
there.
good luck,

Listowners,
My intention was only to try to help others like myself to get
affordable research, I did not realize that this information would not
be welcome, mine is not the only research help message I have seen on
the lists. I apologize if this has affended anyone.

Anyone know of any listing available for the cemetery across the street from
this church. Several of my ancestors are buried there and I have tried to
contact someone from the church but nobody will respond to my written request.
It is my understanding that this area Wall Rose is in the southeast part of
Beaver County.
Hi y'all,
Just a suggestion, please get references & check them
carefully when hiring someone to do research for you.
A posting on this list does not constitute a reference;
Thanks and happy searching...
