I have just begun jumping into my family's genealogy with both feet
after saying I was interested in it for about 10 years. I gathered as
much verbal information as I could from my mother. I know the lineage
of my mother's side of the family back until about 1825. At that time,
George and William MINIS bought a farm in what would be Baden, at the
time probably some permutation of Sewickley Twp. They had a sister
Emaline who was given the farm when these two went west (probably
California) for the gold r
Sorry, that name is not familiar to me. Laurie

Do you suppose Grove Cemetery records will ever be available to the public?
There are lots of relatives I know of that are there and some I suspect are
there. Some i would recognize if I saw them.

One of my uncles may have been going to school there then. Do you see any
Wards enrolled. His name would have been Delbert(My mother's youngest
brother). When I was a teenager I worked at the TB sanitarium behind Monaca.
You mentioned one of your parents were from there. There is a gentleman
who was from Freedom Pa. who has a lot of information, pictures and history
of Beaver Co. Would you like to have his e-mail address? Laurie

Hi Laurie, welcome to the list. Did the Sharon School happen to still be
there when you lived in Rochester? It was supposed to be located across the
Big Beaver River from Boalsville. Terri

County Line Road runs east/west through the middle of Lawrence County, and
through part of New Castle. Before Lawrence County came into being in
1849, people from New Castle had to travel to the county seats in either
Beaver or Mercer to take care of legal problems, licenses, etc. As New
Castle grew the residents lobbied in Harrisburg to have Lawrence County
formed and put an end to this bifurcation of the city.

Seen this posted on list but wasn't paying attention, sister just called and
told me that new castle told her that there was no original birth certificate
on file for her, were do you have to go to look for a delayed birth record
thanks.
Hi Gloria,
I sure wish I could help you but those are the only books I have on Beaver
Co. and they are a bit early for your Wiseman. I am not really researching
in Beaver now, but have the books and do lookups. Hopefully someone else on
the list will be able to give you a lookup.

Hi,
I have no clue as to which church, etc. This is more information than I
previously had. So, I'll be of no help to you that way.
Thanks so much for sending me this information.
Have a great week,

Iral,
My understanding of Beaver and Mercer counties was the divider between
the two was the County Line Road in New Castle. All land North of the
road was in Mercer and all land South was in Beaver. Does this help,
or was I fishin' in a dry creek?

Dear List Members,
In my haste to answer the Hookstown question, I missed the wealth of
information the parent site has on all of Beaver County. See
and choose your area of interest. Lots of
wonderful history and great stories in the few areas I looked in.
Thank you to whomever created the Website. [I think it is Beaver Area
School District that has this site.]

Looking for parents and family of my earliest, Samuel Wilson. This family
was in Beaver Co. PA and Alleghany Co, PA till abt 1880 because by Samuel's
death in 1885 most of his family were in Lima, Allen Co. OH. Some were
elsewhere by then and I have put that info next to their names, along with
the names of their spouses. I would like to find living members of this
family too.
Please take a look and if you get a chance, please visit my website listed
in my sigature below.

I am new to the list. I am searching William James Barr, who lived in
Glenfield from 1920 to 1961. My father William James Barr, Jr. was fire
chief of Glenfield for many years. Do you know if there would be any records
of this and if so where would I find them. Thanks for any information.
