I am requesting an Obituary for Louise (Dunkle) Peterson, her husband was
James J. Peterson who was a highly respected black man who lived in Bedford
Co Pa for over thirty years, he died in 1909 any information on Louise and
the three surviving sons would be greatly apprecited, the sons names are
Walter, William Henry and a step son named Theodore Dunkle all from Bradford
Co, Pa,

Emery Scott Koontz, son of Abraham Koontz and Maria Clapper, born 20
November 1882, died 11January 1963, buried at New Enterprise cemetery, married
Rosella Detwiler 23 December 1904. No issue.

Is there a way to access Quaker meeting information about the Bedford County
Blackburns and Edwardses? My brick wall is Sarah Ellen Blackburn who seems
not to have parents. The earliest we find her is in the household of Amos
Edwards and wife in Bedford County. In later years, after she married
William Mock, we find her and her husband farming the Amos Edwards farm, and later
still, Amos Edwards lives with the Mock family with William named as head of
household. Nobody seems to know whos
Ended up with some old photos - look to be late 1800's (1880's/1890's to my
eye - but I'm not very good at this) at an estate auction near Imlertown 2
weeks ago. The photos are fairly panoramic views of a farm and 6, 8, and 9
people (up to 6 males and 3 females).
On the back of some of the photos it says "Koontz Family"... of course that
doesn't rule out much when we're talking about Bedford.
On one - one of the family shots - it says "Scott Koontz".
On two others, it says "belongs to Charley
John Gordon of Bedford County, PA was my GGGG Grandfather. He died ca 1798. He could have come to Bedford County from Harford County, MD as a Jonathan Hamilton and a John Gordon, both with wives and children who later show up in Pennsylvania, were living beside each other there prior to the Rev. War.
I have the names of his children as they were listed in John Gordons estate.
Thomas married Mary Iams
Mary married Jonathan Hamilton
John who had children Sarah, Rebecca, Susanne, Elizabeth and John, m

C. C. Snell, a well-known resident of this place, died at his home, on East
Main street, shortly after six o'clock last evening. The announcement of
his death came just as we were putting our paper to press. He had been
seriously ill for several days and the end was not unexpected.--Everett

D. R. Stayer and family attended the funeral of Lester Snyder at the Koontz
church, south of Loysburg, on Sunday. Deceased was a nephew of Mr. and Mrs.

I'm interested in a Henry Vandruff who seems to have settled in Bedford
County in the 1780's - probably in what is now Belfast Twp, Fulton
Co. Henry may have been from New Jersey, according to the information
given by one of his sons in a later census and there may be a link with the
Truax family who originated from Monmouth County. It's possible that he
served in the same company which was raised in Monmouth County during the
Revolutionary War.

The remains of David D. Mock, son of Philip Mock, of near Cessna, were
buried in the Fishertown cemetery on Wednesday. He died in the Jefferson
Hospital on Monday following an operation for appendicitis. Mr. Mock was 28
years old and was married to Miss Frances Blattenberger, of this place, who
with one child survives him. They lived at Salemville in 1902.
Elizabeth Chamberlain, of Everett, wife of L. D. Chamberlain, died Tuesday
morning of last week, April 12th, aged 47 years, 10 months and 25 day
Benjamin Mitchell died at his home in Everett Tuesday morning of last week,
aged 85 years.
Mrs. Mary C. Tate, widow of Captain Samuel B. Tate, died in Everett
Wednesday evening of last week aged 62 years. She was a daughter of J. M.
Barndollar.
An unknown man was killed on the railroad below Cooks Mills on Monday.
While it is not known how the accident occurred the prevailing opinion in
the locality is that he was walking on the track and that stepping from one
track to another to avoid an approach
