The Ohio Genealogical Society was responsible for entering the Ohio soldiers in the CWSS. Nearly 400 volunteers worked on the Ohio portion of the project, resulting
Hello,
I just joined this list. My interest is in the CRABLE line. If anyone can help me, I would like information on
Horace CRABLE who married Emeline VAHORN in 1853 of Bedford Co., Pa. They had:
Franklin P. born 1854 and Mary V. She then married a Zachaeiah SCHAFFER.
Thanks,

John STECKMAN & family of...PA, VA/WV, MD, OH, IL, et al.
John STECKMAN, b. c. 1776, VA. John's death is said to have been on the Ohio River near Gainsville/Gainesville, Belmont Co, Ohio. It is said that John was a farmer who took produce down the Ohio River. He was on a river barge and was killed by river pirates.
Could someone please share with me where this information was obtained? There was never, and still is not a town named Gainsville/Gainesville in or around Belmont County or the state of Ohio.
I found a reference to my ancestor, George Landis Latshaw, about him coming to the area from York County in March of 1860. The narrative starts with his appearance at William Little's blacksmith shop, in Loysburg. He had been hired to work on a farm "up Potter Creek."
George ended up renting the farm and eventually bought it, apparently during the Civil War. During the war, he "bought horses for the government."
Can anyone provide information on the farm and its location?

Hello,
Could someone please help me with a look-up for George MULLEN, age 63. I have a copy, a very smeared copy, and I can't read it well. The name appears to be MULLEN. His wife seems to be Catherine, age 60. They appear at visit 157/157, page 194b.
There are four more names below that of his wife, can anyone make out these names for me? These people are ages 24, 21, 62 and 45 I think. Were they all born in Pennsylvania?
Thank you for taking your time to help me.

Hello Group,
I am researching Francis Patterson, father of Col. Robert Patterson, of
Bedford/Cumberland counties. Robert was one of the founders of Lexington
KY. Francis remained in PA until about 1787, when the family migrated to
the claims in Lexington. I have seen much information in KY about Robert,
for obvious reasons and very little about his family. Specifically, my
interest is in his younger half brother William. William and Robert were
partners in KY and worked together to make the KY cl
I'm trying to determine if Peter Zug might have been part of the Quemahoning Seventh Day Baptist Church (originally called the Penrod Church) that was organized by followers of Elder George Adam Martin. Peter Zug was a Brethren preacher and was apparantly close to Elder Martin as evidenced by: (1) Peter defended Elder Martin during the controversary at Conestoga and (2) they both lived in Antrim Twp. near Waynesboro--Elder Martin until 1762+ and Peter until 1768. Peter shows up in Turkeyfoot Twp. on 1783
Does anyone on this list know if any descendents of William Kiser a Hatter of Bedford remain in the area? He was a postmaster and sherriff in Bedord and he died in 1888. His sons all left Bedford and I have trace them all I think. William may have had a brother or two that stayed in Cumberland, Franklin or Bedford Co.
Wiliam is my direct ancestor and I'd be willing to swap information with interested cousins.

This is just a guess but I'll bet that smudged or faded ink and maybe bad
handwriting was mis-transcribed and Gainesville is supposed to be
Barnesville.

Evening Folks,
I have been working on something in my down time and thought my fellow
members might be interested. This is a portion of the inaugural issue of the
Gospel Messenger of July 3, 1883. This was the voice for that portion of the
German Baptist church that we now know as the Church of the Brethren.
Only those portions of the sixteen page newspaper that has either
historical or genealogical information was pulled. The doctrinal, poetry and general
jottings articles were not reproduc
