Isn't the Juniata Crossing where the historic Weaverling home is? I have
information on the Weaverling Family and their home that is a National Historical

The Juniata Crossings is located where the river goes under route 30, just west of Breezewood. This is the location where the double covered bridge was once located. There was also a Ft Martin located probably less than a mile east of Juniata Crossings, at the top of the hill before you drop down into Breezewood. The Juniata Crossing is now open into a gift shop and for a real treat anyone in the area should visit it. The first Floor or what looks like the basement if you are on route 30 is already open

Hi Raley researchers,
I live in Allegany Co. MD. and am researching the Parker surname. I have a Land Deed that states my ggg-grandfather Benjamin Parker sold land to Amos Raley in 1817.
The land is Lot # 3350 located on the Bedford Co. PA. & Allegany Co. MD. line at Post 165 on PA. Line. By the survey it sounds as though the land is mostly in MD. but a part of it did extend north into PA.
Wondering if anyone knew that this Amos Raley may have owned land in the MD. area. Does anyone know what
My modern map shows a Juniata Crossing just west of Breezewood, along the
turnpike in Bedford County. Not sure if this is the same location as the
fort, I can check tomorrow in a book on Frontier Forts.

Hi all--
Cannot speak to the Fort, but "Juniata Crossings," the wonderful primitives store (was a B & B before and who knows what originally!) is indeed just west of Breezewood. Due to the location of this historic building, right on the pike and on the river, I can guess it may have been the site of a fort at one time.

Hello List,
Is anyone doing any research or have any information on the Raleys or Diehls that
lived around Schellsburg in the 1880s?
My great-grandmother was Harriet (Hattie) Ada Diehl and she was born 10 Mar
1886 in Bedford County. I know for sure that she was the daughter of Drusilla Raley
(several different spellings in the various censuses) and I'm almost sure that her
father was a David Diehl. However, there are three David Diehls in Bedford County
in 1880.
My great-grandmother never talked abo

Hello Clark,
According to the 1850 census; Londonderry Twp, Bedford Co, PA; It would
appear that Margaret Raley, who was ten years old when the census was taken in 1850
(so born about 1840/1841) was the d/o John Raley. John Raley was a son of
Amos & Elizabeth Raley. So, Margaret Raley born 1840/1841 would be the
grandaughter of Amos & Elizabeth Raley.
