Hi JRB,
I am sorry but I find nothing among the following names that connects a

Chester Co.Williams
This is a very common name among Welsh settlers, and it must not be
inferred that all are of the same family.
Robert Williams, of Merion, widower, was married at the home of Hugh

settled in Goshen. He died in 1734 age 87 years. Children, so far as

Hi List,
Can anyone tell me the parents of WILLIAM BERTOLET b. 1888 m. to BERTHA
BURKHART daughter of DANIEL Goodhart BURKHART.
I have the St. John Union Cemetery list and is the last name spelled with
two LL or one L?
Is Luther R., SR. William's and Bertha's son?
Thanks
Eileen

Hi
This is just one of the many messages I have received over the past 5 or 6
days.
The list is working just fine but perhaps you should re-subscribe.
I have noticed several opthers reporting "No messages."
I was hospitalized on the 19th, had back surgery, and just released late
the 21st . This is the first day back on the Berks net.
I down loaded at least 40 messages from just Berks all automatically per
membership. I got even more from Panortha and Schuylkill.

Hi all,
Hopefully this will be a simple question to answer. In the PA Archive
proprietary tax lists (e.g. 1767,1780, 1784), and also in the Berks Co.
tax lists of 1754-1768 & 1770-1789, there are lists of "single males".
Question. What was the earliest age at which a son is eligible to be
taxed? Also can anyone lead me to the appropriate reference where the
taxation age is written in state & county laws?

Does anyone have the address for the early colonial state maps from the
1600's to present that show the different size of the the early counties as they
grew thru the years. I had the URL but seem to have lost it.
Someone posted the URL, I believe, on this list not very long ago. I would
really appreciate any help with finding this fantastic site.

To anyone researching the Yocom family,
The obituary and biography below for Anna Yocom were found in the 1881
Montgomery Ledger, published in Pottstown, Montgomery Co., PA. It contains
much interesting information. Anna who was from Douglass Township, Berks
County, does not belong to me, but I'm sure she belongs to someone out
there who might be looking for her.

Most genealogies on the internet show the wife of Peter Orwig as Hannah Webb b. 28 May 1756 Stamford, CT. However, none cite any source for her birth date or location. Is this information accurate and verifiable?

Leon,
Just for fun, I went to http://www.assa.org.au/edm.html#OrthCalculator and
found a table which listed 18th April as the date of Easter in 1745. Then,
using the listed formulae, I calculated 14 Apr as the date of Easter in1745,
according to the Julian calendar. This agrees with your date. By 1752, when
England finally adopted the Gregorian calendar, the Julian calendar was 11
days behind the Gregorian calendar; so 11 days had to be dropped to bring
the British calendar into alignment with the seasons.
I can not find anything on my 2nd great-grandparents, Frank & Hutty HADLEY.
Their daughter, Sallie R HADLEY was born in Robeson Twp on 27 Sep 1878 and
died in Gibraltar, Robeson Twp on 3 Apr 1958. There names are from Sallie's
Marriage certificate.
I can't find Sally in the 1880 Census, and she is already married to Charles
Clayton BITLER on the 1900 Census.
The only Frank Hadley I can find in the area was from Chester County in
1880, but is listed as single. Other than going and paying for a PA death
To LEVAN researches:
Here's the question - "What was the name of Daniel Levan's first Wife?"
We say that Daniel was born in Europe (the son of Daniel Levan and Marie Beau) and that he landed in Philadelphia in 1727. He moved to an area called Maxatawny (close to a brother named Jacob) and eventually purchased land and built an Inn along the road from Reading to Easton (The Inn is still there on the east side of Kutztown along what is now US 222). Daniel had sixteen (16) children that I'm aware of
I've been working on the Batdorff genealogy and have come across a map
of C.I. Lindenmuth's 1902 which was drawn from the, "Tulpehocken Valley
Pioneer Homesteads, 1723" . The Martin Batdorff tract appears to be on
the land now occupied by the Lebanon Valley Golf Course. Can anyone
tell me if that assumption is correct? Anyone have documentation to
that affect?

Hello lists,
Senior moment, sorry, I forget what list the question was on and I already deleted the e-mail and emptied the contents of my delete folder so....
Here is my two cents on the taxable age of Berks Co. men. My source is a researcher at the historical society that my cousin contacted in 1992 by the name of Elaine D. Schwar. She wrote to my cousin: The tax lists for Ruscombmanor list only a married George and a single George Braun. Normally you would be taxed after your 21st year. If th
