HOLIDAY GREETINGS *****
Every now and again, I do a posting hoping to find the parents of Joshua
Parrish [1770-1840].
I am aware of histories of Cambria County PA that mention he was born in
Western Maryland
[or in England, take your pick]. Bur none of these shed any light on his
parentage.
In general, the Parrish family were [and still are] good record keepers. I
am hoping there is someone out there who might have preserved information
handed down through the Parrish family, or one of its bra
It's a long shot, but I've been lucky on this list before. In the research
on the 1860 Methodist diary, the three largest contributors to the
Missionary Society from Hunt's Church are T. Hunt, W. T. Sloan, and D. F.
A. Grier.
With your help, I've identified T. Hunt as Timothy Hunt (1806-1874).
D. F. A. GREER shows up on the 1860 census as a 24-year-old clerk from
Maryland, but I don't know anything more.
And I can't locate a T. SLOAN, despite my efforts.
Does anybody recognize SLOAN or GREER / GRIER?
I have a holiday request. Can we please have no more virus information
exchange? Really, if you are on line and on mailing lists you really should
have anti-viral software that you update weekly. How about that for a New
Year's resolution? Happy holidays.

Is anyone out there researching Mathias and Melissa Phillips from South Fork, Pa. Mathias's parents were William and Sarah Phillips. Melissa's parents were Jabes and Frances Young. Mathias and Melissa were my ggrandparents and I am having trouble finding anyone who knew anything about them. Relatives of mine who would know anything are deceased. Any help would be appreciated from anyone.
Thanks ever so much.

Does anyone on this list have any experience with getting records from a
court case heard before the PA Supreme Court?
I have a family who appealed a decision from the Phila. Orphan's Court, and
that appeal was heard by the PA Supreme Court in the early 1860s. The Phila.
Orphan's Court could not find any records and suggested I contact the PA
Supreme Court. Having never pursued this before, I was hoping someone on the
list might share his/her experience with ordering records from them. I have

Moses DAVIS was the son of David DAVIS and Eleanor ROWLAND. She was the
daughter of Ellis ROWLAND and wife Catherine, last name unknown.
Moses DAVIS married Jemima/Jane/Jenny REESE, daughter of Enoch REESE and

It's pretty certain that Ellis and Griffith ROWLAND were brothers.
Therefore, Moses and his wife were second cousins.
Jemima may have been a nickname for Jane. She was shown in the 1850 census

Lynne & I have completed the changes we want to make to the township and
cemetery web pages that are housed on the rootsweb server. Around midnight
tonight (eastern US time) we're going to start rolling in the new pages.
We've scheduled this at this time, because we're hoping most of you will be
tucked in bed and not browsing on the web. These changes should only take a
few hours to complete (the actual moving of the pages should take an hour or
less, but then re-indexing the site to pick up the new pages
While scanning documents to my files, I just noticed the following record
for this family included in a document from St. Augustine Church for my
WALTZ family. I'm posting it to the list in case it might be helpful to
someone.
This information was supplied by Fr. Joseph Fleming in January of 1992. In
a cover letter, he states that "...The numbers to the left of the page refer
to the number in the original record book. This copy was made from a record
which was compiled by Fr. Joseph Farran during the wi

taking a break the last two weeks of Dec., there will not be any obits posted
during that time.
I have the following obits; if you would like a scanned copy, please email me
off list and include the date and name:
Douglas Mellott, 1950 (Wood Township)

Just my two cents worth...

I wonder if any of you on this list have tried hiring the services of a
professional German researcher? I am in contact with a gentleman who
specializes in Bavarian research and he seems very qualified but also rather
expensive. I'd appreciate it if others could tell me what they have paid
for research.
Also, this man has a website that shows the names of many Bavarian
emigrant families and it may be of interest to some of you:

Hi listers,
A while back I queried the list about finding information on a court case
heard in the PA Supreme Court. One of the most helpful replies I had
suggested I check the LEXIS-NEXIS database which is available on-line at
colleges and larger libraries (I found it was available at my local county
community college). What a wonderful resource that turned out to be! You
won't find local court cases, but any case heard before the state supreme
court and some of the lower courts is there. The da
Greetings,
I'm wondering if anyone on the list is working on/ or has info on the
Rodebaugh/Rodabaugh family that is on the 1870 Summerhill census for Cambria
Co.??
Thanks, Shirley

"Memories of Johnstown" by the Windber-Johnstown genealogy society. The
officers of wjags will be sending mine shortly. I will be looking forward to
it...Perhaps New Year's Eve!!!

Good morning everyone ...
The web page updates scheduled for this evening have been completed
successfully. All parts of the web site should be accessible at this time.
If you have bookmarked any township or cemetery pages, you may want to go
back to the main page, wander around the web site until you find the page
you want to save the address of, and re-bookmark it, as some of the page
file names (all the cemetery page names and about 1/2 of the township page
names) have changed.
While you're wandering

As for your mom - I bet my mother bought slips from her. Is was only place
