2. [PaCambri] Stray O'Haras [1]
Greetings ..... For some time I have been following the O'Haras of Cambria Co. Their origin was in Maryland. They lived in what is now Carroll Co. MD just east of 'Patience Care' the McGuire plantation. Daniel O'Hara [1761-1809] and his wife Rachel Friddle were the first O'Haras to settle in Cambria. They established a tavern on the pike just east of Munster. They had numerous children, many of whose descendants are alive today. I am aware of many of the descendants of this family and their con

Depending on what equipment you have (scanner, digital camera, printer, etc.) and a good desk-top publishing program, you can create and customize about any type of wall hanging you want with a little imagination and practice. Good luck with the interview. One big mistake I made was not asking about a family bible. Make sure you ask! 5 years later, I find that my grandmother has one that she's just now mentioning. There is a "Laurel Village" and "Laurel Mountain State Park" directly southwest of Johnstown, about 45 mins. or so drive. There is also a "Laurel Run" ski area on Laurel Mountain. I recall residents there telling me that the whole mountain used to be called Laurel Run, before it was turned into a State Park. My Grandmother (Mary Kathryn DENNE) was born (1899) & raised in Portage and although I do not ever remember her making Scrapple, I DO remember that: She made soap out of lye. She made a salad out of dandelion greens (with warm vinegar dressing). She made bread & buns with the water she boiled her potatoes in. She made jam & jelly out of almost everything (sealed the jar with wax). She would put a piece of bacon on an abcess overnight so it would "beal" (open). Sh

The Lebanees did not drop their big balogna at New Years this year because of the factory fire. I love scrabble but it is hard to find good wet bottom shoo fly pie. I enjoyed scrabble when I lived in Indiana as a child. That's the county next to ya not the state. I only buy scrabble from the Green Dragon or a good butcher now though. I hate srabble with pig hair and lead from the bulet they used to kill the hog in it as I got from a local farmer once. BLESS YOU LIST AND RELATIVES IN THE COUNTY McC

Of course, it has gotten me in trouble a few times -- when the email I've chosen is one of thos "reply to list" emails. To suddenly discover that you've sent a persona
