Am posting this to see if anyone knows the origins of the McCoy of the
Taylor-McCoy Coal & Coke Co., once the biggest thing going around Gallitzin.
There was a Hugh McCoy [b. circa 1770] who had patented a tract of land
adjacent to where Taylor-McCoy later had their operation. I became
interested through following the O'Hara family; Ann/Nancy O'Hara married
Hugh McCoy...
Industrial history has always interested me. And since Hugh McCoy married
into the O'Hara family, I have been trying to find out

REMAINS OF 5 FOUND IN GALLITZIN HOUSE:

GALLITZIN - Police found the badly decomposed bodies of five babies in a
Gallitzin attic late Tuesday, in a macabre puzzle that could take Cambria
County investigators 50 years into the past.
A 20 year-old letter, written by Stella Elizabeth Williamson, who died
Aug 26, led authorities to the 310 Forest Ave (Street) home where the bodies
were found. They were wrapped in newspap
Do any listers recall the grisly discovery from about the early 1980's,
when an old woman in Gallitzin died and a number of baby skeletons were
found in her attic? It was reported that she was a recluse and that, over
the years, she secretly had these children. It was quite a story at the
time, but I cannot recall her name or other details.
Anyone?

Hi Everyone,
Lately, it seems, my email goes a little nuts. It will just
select certain emails and hold them for a few days. There's no rhyme or
reason to it. Sometimes they'll show up days later; sometimes they
won't. Since I check my mail 6 - 8 times a days, there isn't any reason
why it should bounce.
If you should have problems with mail to me being returned, please
send it to Diann at:

Hi,
Some years ago I actually spoke by telephone to a wonderful lady who worked
at one of the cemeteries. She and her husband went to where Lower Yoder was.
It was ancient then and only a few markers were left and none of them were
legible.

Hello, again,
I have been off-list since October. Thought it was time to get back on, since there may be new people who might have some info about my families--SARLOUIS, FULTON, And McCUNE.
Matthias and Margaretha SARLOUIS emigrated from Germany (Hesse-Darmstadt) about 1846/7, with the following children:
Anna Marie or Maria Anna b. 1828
Matthias (my grgrandfather) b.1832
Andrew b.1834
Peter b. 1836

The only Bader family I know of are George and Sophia (Senft) Bader whose
children were Otto and George A,. Bader. Otto is still living in York. He
married Virginia Ferguson who just passed away. George married Annie Zoldak.
Otto and George were born around 1920 and lived in the Walnut Grove area of
Johnstown. I do know they had relatives buried in Sandyvale. These were
moved to Richland Cemetery in Geistown. Whether those moved were Baders, I
do not know. There are might be more children in the family othe
A number of years ago (15? 20?), Mary Grace Kirsch, a long time writer
for the Altoona Tribune, whote a script about Father Gallitzin.
According to my monther (a friend of Mary Grace) the Altoona-Johnstown
Diocese kept it and did not allow production by a Pittsburgh company.
This is a tale that obviously needs some fact checking. Altoona Mirror
probably has files from Tribune, and the Diocese may have some
information as well. If the script were available, it might be of

I just LOVE this kind of info...and in my opinion this Cambria List is

Does anyone have any information on a cemetery that was located on the

Thank you,

I may be thinking of something different, but could this have happened in
the early 70's. I was staying outside of Beaverdale with relatives and
recall this story. It seems like there were 5 or 6 babies. I may be totally
confusing it with something else, but there may be the off chance I'm not.

I am looking for information about the cause of my great grandfather Thomas Deffenbaugh's death.
The information the family has is that he died May 14, 1875 in Lilly Station, Cambria County, PA. He was only 33 at the time of his death. He left behind his wife with three small children and she was pregnant with their fourth child. It is assumed his early death was caused by some sort of accident. A distant relative thought it may have been a railroad accident. With all of the talk about mining accident
I would like to ditto what Carol had written about Linda's work and Lynne

is fantastic and we really appreciate all the work that goes into making it
