Hi Tina. No that's not a silly question. Emporium has lots of people with
nicknames. Duck Armstrong was a year ahead of me in school so would be
about 58. He and my husband were no relation. But I did know him and I
think he was first married to a friend of mine Mary Kay Wilson.
Dee and Mike......many thanks for the Sizerville Cemetery. Anyone working
on Gardeau(sp?). That's where the rest of the Nicklers are. Thanks again!
Dale

Hi Kent, Your mom was a couple years ahead of me in school, but I remember
her in plays and having a great singing voice. My dad worked with your
grandfather, George at Sylvania. I'm not sure if the John English I know is
the same you speak of, we called him "Frenchie" and he played in the school
bank with us. If this is the same it took the time to come visit us in
married housing when we were at Michigan State years ago.
Mike I'm confused as to which cemetery you are calling Sizerville. If you
need information on what I think is Gardeau Cemetery my dad has all the
records as he took care of it for years. Let me know if you would like me to
work on it.
Hi Mike. If, in your happen to run across the name COMMINO or BLACKMAN in your research, I'd really appreciate hearing about it. I have not been able to find out anything about the families prior to 1926, when Caroline FOSTER MADISON COMMINO died in Emporium, when my mother was two. She was married to Sylvester COMMINO. His father, according to his application for SS card, was John William COMMINO, and his mother was Martha BLACKMAN. I also do not know what happened to Caroline's first husband, Harry (

HI Dale and everyone else with the same question!
I'm sorry! I just assume that everyone has been at this forever like me!
LOL Please let me know if I ever assume things like that again!
The Mormon Church- Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has literally gone
around the world and microfilmed millions of records. Part of their religion
involves bringing their ancestors into the church. So genealogy is a very
important part of their beliefs. In Salt Lake City, they have a huge
library containing these rec

Thanks to Dee Shaffer-Zito, we now have the Sizerville Cemetery listed!

if you turn off the road and drive towards the state buildings and the house
where the Park Ranger lives below the dam..it is along side the road near
the house...there are about 40 or 50 graves there if I remember.

HI Sue!
I am glad you are enjoying the site. The records for this cemetery are
current up to 1966 or so given the source. I would love to have the rest if
the years if you can get them.
Thanks!

Hi everybody,
I found this site on another list.
http://www.pastconnect.com/
This site allows people to post information about an item they've
lost or found that they can identify with a family name. You
can search it by family surname. Some of the items are
photographs, books and letters. Check it out.
I think it will be helpful.

HI Bonnie!
many search engines do not consider the letter "S" part of the name since
people might use it and it is not really part of the name....sorry for the
inconvenience.

HI everyone!
Watch the site for these additions in the next few days!
March 11, 2000 Mary Ellen has posted the 1870 Gibson Township Census and it
is linked. We now have the complete census for 1870! Thank you so much for
all of your work Mary Ellen!!! It is greatly appreciated
There are 6 or 7 new photos.
Run, don't walk, to your nearest LDS Family History Center!! They have over

Nate and I have decided that the site might be better served being on
Rootsweb. I think we are growing too fast for Nate! LOL Nate manages god

several times a week to up load to the server. He has much more resolve than
I do, that's for sure! I don't know how he does it. I know how much time I

Hello,
I am looking for anyone who is searching the following families;
CASKEY, SWESEY, LEWIS, CARTER, GATES, HELSEL, COULTER, KORB, HAUCK.
My Grandparents, Don & Julia Gates Caskey grew up in the Rich Valley/Emporium Area. And though I have fair amounts of info for these two lines it is their ancestors that seem to baffle me. I would enjoy sharing any information I have accumulated in return for yours. I enjoy facts but for enjoy the stories and pictures more.
Don is the son of Loran & Gertrude Swesey
Narrow minded? Do you know Sandra? I have known Sandra Hornung for a few
years and found her to be a VERY polite, very busy, very helpful, and a
far-from-narrow-minded person.
Would not the Echo have copyright to her material since she is being paid and
published through them? Maybe?
I think that you owe an apology to Mrs. Sandra Hornung.
Being the (acting and going out) VP of our local genealogical Society here, I
know quite a bit about volunteerism, and how busy people are with commitments

HI!
I got one more hour left to wish you all a Happy St. Patrick's Day! Hope
you all had a green day!
I am getting the bugs worked out of the systems since the move...little
things are popping up. Please let me know if you find something that does
not work.
I do not know what happened to all of the Guest Book entries...I have not
heard back from Nate yet to see if they can be replaced. In the mean time,
I am hearing from folks who saw the notice in the Echo...3 more people
subscribed to the list today!
Hi Jane, Mike and all,
The John & Elizabeth Sheffer family used Sheffer, Shaffer, and Shafer
spellings. John (b. 1785) & Elizabeth (b. 1792) are buried in the
Old Pine Street Cemetery and I believe they still have descendants in
Sinnemahoning.
I'd like to know more about John's family myself--I have a lot of
conflicting
information. I had Elizabeth's maiden name as Bartholomew, yet I've
seen it as Richie (see the Pine Street Cemetery list on the Cameron
Co. site). I have several lists of children, but non
Hi Jane!
Welcome to the list! I saw the Sheffer name tonight reading through the
death records or cemetery lists...I thought it was a version of Shaffer. I
will send you what I saw in a couple of days.

On 21 Dec 1999 I posted a querry updating the Mix Run cemetery with all listed burials. It was an update of my listing that was entered in the Cemetery Records section for Cameron county. I added the complete listing that wasn't complete in the 1 Dec 1999 listing.

Mike,
I believe that you and others have done alot of work.
My problem is when I put "Willliams" in the search engine I have to look
thru several times the items I need to because the search engine also
looks for just "Willliam".
Maybe there is something I am doing wrong, and I thought it might be
happening with some other names. that is why I am posting to the list
instead of just writing to you separately.
Help me please.
Great work.
I have just gotten alot of info from Beverly about the Quinns, Omalle

Hi Everyone!
Glad to see some life in this list! Thanks to those of you who introduced
yourselves! Please share any new contacts you made by doing that.

Obituaries from Cameron County Newspapers 1890-1902; Cameron County
Tombstone Inscription 1788-1976; and the Cameron County Death Records
1893-1906. I must have been feeling morbid that day!! As soon as I see w
