I just came across a nifty little free program for displaying a family chart
of ancestors in a very small space. It does it in an unusual manner. The
best way is to demonstrate. It is best if your browser can show frames;
most browsers can unless you have a very old one. The bottom frame can be
sized by dragging the border. Click on each box for details in the frame at
the bottom.
The banner ad for freepages gets in the way
just a little, but that's the price of a free genealogy home page. I put it

Here is my deed abstract and some comments about the deed from Sarah Pace and
John Pace to Alfred Philips, husband of Ann Pace. In a separate e-mail will
be the sale of this same piece of land from Alfred Philips to William Lawing.
Again, I included the land description for those that want to plat the
land, see the neighbors (some are family members), etc. It is a lengthy
description - I hope I did not make any transcription errors.

Just to muddy the waters: My great great great grandfather was - according
to the family Bible inscribed in the mid 1800s - Joseph Pace, born in Henry
Co. VA in 1796. He was in Shelby Co. KY by 20 Dec 1821 when he married Ann
Magee, daughter of Humphrey Magee. (I have seen the original entry in the
marriage ledger in Shelbyville.) My grandmother's notes, however, always
refer to him as "Joel". Her information came from her mother, Mary

All I know about Francis Pace being murdered in Arkansas is that he was
killed by a James Ryan. This came from B. Fred Beams (bfbeams@netscape.net)

Linda,
The abstract you received appears to give the names of the orphan children
of John and Sarah (Anderson) Pace of Rutherford co., TN. This record will
help sort out the grandchildren of William Pace and Ruth Lambert. It also
seems to eliminate your Ann Pace who married Alfred Phillips as a daughter of
John and Sarah Pace, unless one of the names is a middle name, etc.

Included in a listing of Rutherford Co, TN marriages that I was sent by
another researcher is this marriage listing for a Matilda Pace. I have not
verified it in original records and also do not know for sure that it is the
Matilda Pace, daughter of John and Sarah (Anderson) Pace, but this record and
family should be researched. A George Williamson married Martha "Beady"

The latest document that I have for Sarah (Anderson) Pace is her Widow's
application of 1855 for John Pace's War of 1812 military service. At the
time of her application on January 25, 1855, Sarah Pace was "a widow of
Rutherford County Tennessee aged 75 years". Sarah Pace was applying under
the Act of February 3, 1853, granting the renewal of half pay to certain
widows and orphans. She unfortunately indicated that John Pace was a
private in the 1st Regiment Tennessee Volunteers War of 1812.

Comments about some of the people mentioned in the deed: John Earwood Jr.
is possibly the John A. Yearwood who married, Naomi "Amy" Pace, the daughter
of James Pace and Mary Ann Loving. Samuel Fulks is possibly the father of
John Fulks who married Zany Pace, daughter of James Pace and Mary Ann Loving.

When I was trying to figure out who the Joel Pace was on the 1820 census of
Woodford Co, KY, I noticed that your ancestor, Joseph Pace who m. Ann Magee,
was in the same area at the time, in the neighboring county of Shelby. But
he seems to be missing from the 1820 census. So I wondered if they could be
the same person, but dismissed the thought because why would Joseph be called
Joel. But then your grandmother's notes saying that he was usually called
"Joel" seems to confirm this idea!

Rebecca,
Jane Little McEndree here. I was reading the following e-mail that you

married John Osborn. You know I have found so many people an
Gordon, what a great service you are performing. This just shows that you
can do a lot without actually visiting the parishes or finding the originals
of the records. Once a possible lineage is set up, the originals can be
eventually checked for accuracy.
Kingston-on-Thames is an excellent possibility. There was much barge
traffic above London in earlier times; I have ridden much of the Thames
