1. [PACE-L] Nifty program [1]
I just came across a nifty little free program for displaying a family chart of ancestors in a very small space. It does it in an unusual manner. The best way is to demonstrate. It is best if your browser can show frames; most browsers can unless you have a very old one. The bottom frame can be sized by dragging the border. Click on each box for details in the frame at the bottom. The banner ad for freepages gets in the way just a little, but that's the price of a free genealogy home page. I put it in

4. [PACE-L] Re: James and Mary Ann Pace [1]
Linda, Yes the children listed in your message below are children of James and Mary Ann (Loving) Pace. The complete list of their children follows: 1. Mary or Polly Pace, b. 26 Apr 1798 d. 1807 2. Elizabeth Pace, b. 13 Oct 1799, d. 1863 or 1865 Jersey Co., IL; md. James Campbell [See the post I made to the list yesterday.] 3. Nancy Pace, b. 20 Mar 1801 d. 21 Apr 1875 Paragonah, Utah; md. 5. [PACE-L] Deeds -(pt 1) Pace to Philips to Lawing -Rutherford Co, TN [1]
Here is my deed abstract and some comments about the deed from Sarah Pace and John Pace to Alfred Philips, husband of Ann Pace. In a separate e-mail will be the sale of this same piece of land from Alfred Philips to William Lawing. Again, I included the land description for those that want to plat the land, see the neighbors (some are family members), etc. It is a lengthy description - I hope I did not make any transcription errors. 6. [PACE-L] [1]
Just to muddy the waters: My great great great grandfather was - according to the family Bible inscribed in the mid 1800s - Joseph Pace, born in Henry Co. VA in 1796. He was in Shelby Co. KY by 20 Dec 1821 when he married Ann Magee, daughter of Humphrey Magee. (I have seen the original entry in the marriage ledger in Shelbyville.) My grandmother's notes, however, always refer to him as "Joel". Her information came from her mother, Mary Catherine Pace, an ardent genealogist. I have felt that his father

8. Re: [PACE-L] John and Sarah (Anderson) Pace [1]
Linda, The abstract you received appears to give the names of the orphan children of John and Sarah (Anderson) Pace of Rutherford co., TN. This record will help sort out the grandchildren of William Pace and Ruth Lambert. It also seems to eliminate your Ann Pace who married Alfred Phillips as a daughter of John and Sarah Pace, unless one of the names is a middle name, etc. Your questions - <> There are only 4 children listed in the 1820 and 1830 censuses for Sarah Pace. It is possibl

10. [PACE-L] Matilda Pace, dau of John and Sarah (Anderson) Pace [1]
Included in a listing of Rutherford Co, TN marriages that I was sent by another researcher is this marriage listing for a Matilda Pace. I have not verified it in original records and also do not know for sure that it is the Matilda Pace, daughter of John and Sarah (Anderson) Pace, but this record and family should be researched. A George Williamson married Martha "Beady" Pace, daughter of William Pace and Ruth Lambert. If this is John and Sarah (Anderson) Pace's daughter Matilda and also the same
11. [PACE-L] Sarah (Anderson) Pace -pension [1]
The latest document that I have for Sarah (Anderson) Pace is her Widow's application of 1855 for John Pace's War of 1812 military service. At the time of her application on January 25, 1855, Sarah Pace was "a widow of Rutherford County Tennessee aged 75 years". Sarah Pace was applying under the Act of February 3, 1853, granting the renewal of half pay to certain widows and orphans. She unfortunately indicated that John Pace was a private in the 1st Regiment Tennessee Volunteers War of 1812.
12. [PACE-L] Deed - William Pace to Jarratt - Rutherford TN [1]
Here is another Pace deed abstract from Rutherford Co.TN. (see below) William Pace sells 2 tracts of land to David M. Jarratt. Comments about some of the people mentioned in the deed: John Earwood Jr. is possibly the John A. Yearwood who married, Naomi "Amy" Pace, the daughter of James Pace and Mary Ann Loving. Samuel Fulks is possibly the father of John Fulks who married Zany Pace, daughter of James Pace and Mary Ann Loving. According to the HISTORY OF GREENE AND JERSEY COUNTIES, ILLIN
13. [PACE-L] Deed - Mrs. Sarah Pace to John Stroop- Rutherford TN [1]
Earlier, a reference was found for a Rutherford co, TN deed where a John and Sarah Pace sold to Alfred Phillips, husband of Ann Pace, 62 acres of land, on January 4, 1845. (Pace Society of America, PACE BULLETIN # 26 (December 1973).) I became curious about this deed and so I ordered some of the Rutherford co, TN Deed books on microfilm. Of course I did not have this reference or references to other Pace deeds with me last night when the microfilms were unpacked from the mailing boxes by the Fa

The following may be a help from Lord Montague's estate and archives in Hampshire http://www.beaulieu.co.uk/ Thomas Pace of Southampton, Holbury and Beaulieu c. 1500 - 1559 or later Notes from The Waterside Association (no references given) In 1533 the manor of Holbury, east of Beaulieu, and belonging to the Abbey, was leased to the Pace family. Thomas Pace of Southampton (there were Paces living in the Bitterne area of the town around 1500) may have been a nephew of Thomas Skevington, Abbot of Beaulieu

16. [PACE-L] Joseph & Joel Pace-Shelby Co, KY [1]
Judith: When I was trying to figure out who the Joel Pace was on the 1820 census of Woodford Co, KY, I noticed that your ancestor, Joseph Pace who m. Ann Magee, was in the same area at the time, in the neighboring county of Shelby. But he seems to be missing from the 1820 census. So I wondered if they could be the same person, but dismissed the thought because why would Joseph be called Joel. But then your grandmother's notes saying that he was usually called "Joel" seems to confirm this idea! Jose

By error, I sent the following message only to Gordon. I think it is of interest to the whole list. Gordon, sorry, you will get it twice. Thanks, Gordon. This is almost certainly the Richard Pace referred to by Jervis Wegg in his book, reviewed by Frieda Reid Turner (see citation below). 20. [PACE-L] Unknown Kentucky Paces [1]
Jack: Thanks for your suggestions about Joel and John Pace on the 1820 KY census, but the unidentified Joel Pace in Woodford Co, KY on the 1820 census could not be the Joel Pace b. 1791, son of Spencer Pace because the latter Joel Pace was on the 1820 census of Todd Co, KY along with his father. The unidentified John Pace in Cumberland Co, KY on the 1820 census could not be the John Pace b. 1764 who married Margaret Irving (Irvine?) because the latter John was on the 1820 census of Madison Co, KY. Judy S. Cardwell is a descendant of David Bray Sr. and Amy Pace (daughter of John Pace and Sarah Burge). I wonder if there are other researchers of this couple on Pace-L who would be willing to share with her. I am forwarding below her question on EDMUND MARION PACE. 25. Re: [PACE-L] Kingston-Upon-Thames, Surrey - Richard Pace [1]
Gordon, what a great service you are performing. This just shows that you can do a lot without actually visiting the parishes or finding the originals of the records. Once a possible lineage is set up, the originals can be eventually checked for accuracy. Kingston-on-Thames is an excellent possibility. There was much barge traffic above London in earlier times; I have ridden much of the Thames towpath in this area on a bicycle. All a young man had to do to get himself to London from Kingston was to get
