I am John Pace and a proven descendent of Jesse Pace of Harlan KY. Since Jesse's connection to his grandparents, John and Sarah Burge Pace is not proven to my knowledge, I would also like to contribute my DNA and $ to this project. I would suppose that the DNA swabs could be taken at home and mailed to the lab with very little inconvienence to anyone. My suggestion is that all Pace's in unproven lines be tested so that all the blanks may be filled in. Good luck to you Jeff in your political race.

I have just posted on the Archives web page for Rowan Co. NC a listing of
my John Pool's slaves from an account book 1832-43. These 15-20 names
turned up in my research of wills, loose estate papers, etc.
It is very difficult for African American researchers to find their
ancestors and that is why I posted the slaves names (first names only,
that is all I had). Since my ancestor's slaves lived in Rowan Co., NC,
that is where I posted them on the internet (Rowan Archives page).
I would urge all of you wh

These message thread from RowanRoots deals with what happened in 1780 to
the land of a Tory when it was confiscated for political/military
activities against the state of NC. It also deals with the prices of real
estate in the period. I don't know whether Surry Co. NC followed an
identical procedure regarding the land of JOHN PACE (wife SARAH BURGE)
when his property was confiscated following his death, probably in
October 1780 or shortly after. I am forwarding it as a matter of
interest in procedure.
FYI
Serious Jefferson scholars and historian's now believe differently. New
research from the University of VA using the latest methods and the Y chromosome
were published in the scientific magazine Nature in October 1998. There was a
match found between Jefferson and Sally's youngest son, Easton.
In the November 1998 re-issue of his classic, "American Sphinx, The Character of
Thomas Jefferson" (Random House), author Joseph J. Ellis felt compelled to
detail the changes made in his book based on these fi

Type BFOOV in your search engine and pull up this site. Go to NEW, then
to DNA test and you will see a printout of the first batch of results.
When our test was through; I, our doner, and his aunt got a copy of the

from the director of the project telling us we had exact matches to our

How about this:
Have the treasurer of the Pace Society set up a fund for DNA research.
Announce this in the bulletin, on Pace-L, and on the Pace network, with
instructions how to contribute.
Ask Pace male descendents to indicate if they are willing to be part of the
group. Appoint someone to collect names and addresses. Their participation
would not be connected to ability to pay. Those able to pay their full
portion could contribute it to the fund if they chose. No one except the
treasurer would know
Gordon, again thanks for your help. I Guess I just lost
an Uncle and gained an Aunt.
I just today received a handwritten list of Fluvanna deaths
and births which someone had copied back in 1989.
I don't know how complete but-----
Listed as a birth on Feb.7,1875 is:
Edwin O. Pace born to James L.Pace and L.V. Pace
reported by the father James L. Pace
Don't know if this is my James L. and if so what
happened to L.V, the mother.
The deaths of two children of J.L. and L.V are
reported in 1883 and 1885,
Can anyone help Gale?

Hi Betty,
We may have corresponded, but I can't remember either. I thought for a
long
time that R.R. Pace who lived in Bedford Co., TN was in my
line........apparently
From my reseach there is not hard proof as to which Richard went to
North Carolina. However he was from Prince George so he would be
related to George in some way.
DNA testing would help solve the John of Middlesex unsolved mystery.
Also the Thomas in Accomack county but I have found no definite issue
from him in either of his marriages.

While it's time to get started (collecting names of interested individuals

probably all research the problem further.

I can see how the DNA test results would be very useful through the male lines. But I'm not sure how it would benefit me since I'm a female and a Pace descendant through my gggrandmother Ann Pace, could someone please explain this to me. I would be willing to contribute $ for the group testing regardless.

That matches what is here more or less. Van's version list John of
Middlesex as the son of Richard, son of George, son of Richard of
Middlesex, England.
I have seen some of the discussions concerning John and that was the
reason for my post. I think I accidentally said Richard in my original
message though. For the moment I am going to assume the version in the
book I have until I have proof one way or the other, but seeing as so
many of you have been working that point for so long and have yet to

As I understand it, if John of M and Richard of Jamestown had the same MALE
ancestor then they would have the same Y chromosome. Evidently there is no
limit to how far back. I wonder then... If Adam transferred HIS Y chromosome
to Cain and Able why don't ALL males have the same Y chromosome??????
Because this is new science AND because it is so open to interpretation (and
mis-interpretation) I believe we should proceed slowly. We should be very
certain of what we expect to learn and how we expect to u
This has been a long time interest of mine so I would be pleased to donate,
