I've also seen clear cases of "Mrs." applied to an unmarried
woman in records of England and Barbados. A marriage
record in England identified the 18 year old bride as "Mrs."
and as a spinster, not widow, with her parents named, same
last name as the "Mrs."

Age is a funny thing
Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is
when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about
aging that you think in fractions. How old are you? .... "I'm four and a
half"
....You're never 36 and a half .... you're four and a half going on five!
That's the key. You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You
jump to the next number. How old are
I enjoyed the program, especially the shots of the excavation site. I
noticed that a video is available from the producers (Vermont I think)
for about $20.00, plus postage. Go to:

Tonight, Tuesday, at 8 p.m. my local PBS station is showing a program on
Jamestown, apparently featuring a theory that the "starving time" was
actually a "poisoning time."
This program is part of a series called "Secrets of the Dead"
documentararies.
I can't testify to its value because I haven't viewed it yet. Other
areas of the country may get this segment at a different time but it is
showing tonight in the Norfolk-Williamsburg area of Virginia.

Nina Williams asked if there is a specific genealogy website for Shelby Co,

Then go to the query section to post or read queries or explore some of the

If you want to find a web site for any particular county use the above web
address replacing thshelby with the two digit state code followed by the
county name. I believe that some long county names are abbreviated so you
may have to experiment or just go to rootsweb.com and search for specific

I counted 14 Pace soldiers in the Revolution
on the American side as shown in the DAR
Patriot's index. Their lineages from
the soldier down to the present are available
from DAR Library. (Some Daughters of American Rev papers do show parents
of the soldier) You are so right in assuming there
were Paces who "fought for their Country", (England) in that War!
There is a lineage
society for that side too. I think it's called
something like Descendants of British Loyalists whose records
The Bad Trans virus is on Pace-L. Everytime I send out a message to the
list, I get back a reply with an attachment which reads (in bad grammar):
"Take a look TO the attachment."
I now know what to look for and never open the attachment. That would
infect my computer.
The Bad Trans virus sends out replies to all unread messages in your
in-box, attaching the virus. All of this is involuntary and you never
know it is happening. One girl told me that her computer sent out 100
infected messages in just
I recently read "On the Occasion of My Last Afternoon" as well. I would
recommend it for the same insights Betty mentioned and more. It is small
and a quick read and captivating. My sister recommended it, I was not
terribly interested, but picked it up at my parents' house and ended up
reading it in one day.

Roger:
I have the complete Pace census for 1850. I checked the Paces in the
following states for 1850: Georgia, Arkansas, Alabama, TN, KY and MO. I did
not find your Marion Wilford Pace - there were no Marions and no Wilfords.
You did not indicate when he may have been born. Could he have died before
1850? Do you know his wife's name? Negative news is not very helpful but it
at least narrows the possibilities.

I think I have been searching for a ghost, but I sure could use some help if anyone has the list for Paces in the 1850 & 1860 Census. I have my gggreat grandfather Marion Wilford Pace, can't find him in lists anywhere but should be in the 1850 and 1860 Census somewhere between Georgia & Arkansas. I know it's a broad search, but if anyone could find a name in the index remotely close I could use a little steering.
Thanks in advance,

To all our Pace cousins,
Since we just got home night before last, this is the first
opportunity we have had to express our thanks to Imogene and Frances for
a wonderful reunion.
Not only did we renew friends we made last year in Williamsburg
but had a wonderful time meeting new cousins of our 'Western "
branch. The programs were awesome with enthusaism and knowledge of the speakers.
The food and entertainment were just as outstanding. This reflects in
the narrative of Jon and Gordon as they describe th

I am very desirous of learning of ANY source for the following other than the
book "Our Colonial Ancestors, 1619 - 1799" by Bruce Howard.
1. "John and his two sons Thomas and Richmond were Tories during the
Revolutionary War. They were all killed in action although the exact date and
location are unknown." In his petition, son Burwell only mentions one brother
and not by name. What source names these brothers? I have held this petition
in my hand.
2. "...although it is known that he served under the co
