1. Re: Maude SUPLEE>1900-1977 [1]
For Births and deaths before 1906, contact the courthouse in the county in which the birth or death occurred. Marriage and divorce records (of any date) should be directed to the County Courthouse in which the marriage license or divorce decree was issued. In the case of Chester County, these could be found at the Chester County Archives, 601 Westtown Rd. Suite 080, West Chester PA 19320-4527. (610) 344-6760. They are open M-F 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. Hi, Regarding surname of Morris, a Dr. Jonathan Morris is noted as a patron of artist Benjamen West when West was yet a boy (sometime in the late 1740's early 50's. This appears in our family history (McFarlan/Stern) in a short biography of Benjamen West: "HE VISITS PHILADELPHIA His kind friend and benefactor [Mr. Remmington of Philadelphia, a family member] again called and seeing his progress, asked that he be allowed to accompany him home, which was granted. 11. KERR [1]
Hello, My name is Gloria Pinkerton and I'm new to this mailing list. I live in Chandler, Az. Besides genealogy, I like scrapbooking (which is as addicting as genealogy), making crafts, reading and photography. I very rarely meet anyone who is working on the same lines that I am. I am researching the KERR line from PA. Any help would be most appreciated. gloripink@aol.com This is a newer line for me. 17. Alexander HINDMAN [1]
In the 1765 list of inhabitants, ALEXANDER HINDMAN is found living as "inmate" with a Robert Hindman in West Nottingham Twp. There is another Robtert Hindman listed as a single man in West Bradford Twp. I understand that "inmate" describes a boarder or perhaps a young married man with no property living with a relative? Can anyone clarify the relationship of these three men? This is the only record of Alexander I have from Chester Co. I don't know when or where he was born.By 1768 he is in Rockbridge Co.

You can find Rev. War muster Rolls in the 5th Series Pennsylvania Archives. I believe Vol 5 is the one with Chester County. PA archives can be found at most PA County Historical Societies, the PA State Library in Harrisburg, and other large libraries in PA. If you live somewhere where you don't have access to this, perhaps the Chester Co HIstorical Society could look it up and mail it to you, for a slight fee. [David J. Mote] The telephone number for the following association that has been posted to this list should be 410-837-4334 (instead of (401) 837-4318). They aren't particularly helpful. Calling the number will get you a recording on where to send your money. The recording does say that (self) research of the archives is available by appointment. 24. Two Questions [1]
I have two questions that I have been meaning to ask. Last year I visited (I think) the London Tract Baptist Church to find a marker for Jacob Mote. Although according to the map, I was in the right place, I could not find any signs or indications of which church/cemetery it was. Standing on the road, the small church was to the right, the cemetery was to the left and back. I believe there was a split rail fence to the far left of the cemetery and a stone wall behind? Has anyone had a similar experienc
