Hi,
Regarding surname of Morris, a Dr. Jonathan Morris is noted as a patron of
artist Benjamen West when West was yet a boy (sometime in the late 1740's

biography of Benjamen West:

Finally found that my ggggrandmother Isabella PARRY was b Dec 1811 in Chester
County, PA. She moved to Belmont County, OH where she married and raised a
family.
I have no further information on her family or origins -- does anyone
recognize the name?
Any information greatly appreciated! Sharon
Am searching for any and all info on the following family. They migrated to
Clark Co, IL in the early 1800s, with Cadwallader showing up in the 1820 IL
Census and the rest following later. I need to know specifically WHERE in PA
they were from and both parents' names. If this family group looks familiar
to you, please let me know. I appreciate your attention--

Hello,
My name is Gloria Pinkerton and I'm new to this mailing list. I live in
Chandler, Az. Besides genealogy, I like scrapbooking (which is as addicting
as genealogy), making crafts, reading and photography. I very rarely meet
anyone who is working on the same lines that I am. I am researching the

There is also information in there about how to enter Quaker dates even
if you don't have a genealogy program that allows it. Quaker dates

Hello,
I am looking for a book titled "The Garmire-Hudson Book" by Oliver M. Garmire-Parker
call number 929.2 G233g. I was told that it mentions the Gutshall family of Chester Co.
I am also looking for any information on the family of Ann Cutshall. She was listed in the 1850
and 1840 census in Chester Co. with a son William. I believe she was the wife of William Cutshall
who may have died a bout 1830. I think Ann was born in the late 1770's and died between 1850-1860.

In the 1765 list of inhabitants, ALEXANDER HINDMAN is found living as "inmate"
with a Robert Hindman in West Nottingham Twp. There is another Robtert Hindman
listed as a single man in West Bradford Twp. I understand that "inmate"
describes a boarder or perhaps a young married man with no property living
with a relative? Can anyone clarify the relationship of these three men?
This is the only record of Alexander I have from Chester Co. I don't know when
or where he was born.By 1768 he is in Rockbridge Co.
Dear Erin,
I have two Pyles in my Blackburn-Brinton files:
1. Joseph Pyle married Sarah Dicks born 1687, daughter of Peter Dicks
and Ester Maddock married 1681
2. William Pyle married Olive Bennett, daughter of John Bennett (born
1655 Overbury England) and Ann Brinton (born 1660 Sedgely Staffordshire
England)
I thought this might interest you because of my Pyle-Brinton
connections. I am copying the Quaker list in case anyone there has an
answer for you.
Good luck !!

You can find Rev. War muster Rolls in the 5th Series Pennsylvania Archives.
I believe Vol 5 is the one with Chester County. PA archives can be found at
most PA County Historical Societies, the PA State Library in Harrisburg,
and other large libraries in PA.
If you live somewhere where you don't have access to this, perhaps the
Chester Co HIstorical Society could look it up and mail it to you, for a
slight fee.

I have two questions that I have been meaning to ask.
Last year I visited (I think) the London Tract Baptist Church to find a marker for Jacob Mote. Although according to the map, I was in the right place, I could not find any signs or indications of which church/cemetery it was. Standing on the road, the small church was to the right, the cemetery was to the left and back. I believe there was a split rail fence to the far left of the cemetery and a stone wall behind?
