Hi Everyone,
Today the weather finally allowed me to visit the Confederate Cemetery at
Marietta, Georgia. While there I learned that there are 3,000 Confederate
soldiers interred in the cemetery. I have taken some photos of the cemetery
and will be adding a page to my web pages as soon as the film is developed.
In the meantime, here are the only named Kentucky soldiers buried in the
cemetery and the information indicated for each soldier. There were NO
individual markers for these soldiers that I could
I am researching the Pack surname and had sent for information from the
National Archives in Washington, DC. to see if any of my Packs were able
to prove Indian heritage and be included in the money that an Act of
Congress appropriated for the Eastern Band of Cherokee. It is taking
about 4 months now to get the info sent out. I received the info today
and it is not my Pack family , at least not that I know of.
I wanted to see if anyone on this list is looking for info on Thomas M.
Pack b. 1836 in Davidson Co
Hi Everyone,
I have just finished placing all of the names on-line for KENTUCKY Civil War
soldiers buried in the Marietta National Cemetery at Marietta, Georgia.
There will also be over 125+ photos of gravemarkers. Some of these photos
are not very legible due to extreme wear on the marker and the bright sun at
the time I took the photos.

If you requested a photo and it is not on-line, please let me know. Some
photos did not turn out, and perhaps I can
Hi Everyone,
Today I uploaded some updates to the Confederate Cemetery (Marietta, GA)
webpage. On this page I have listed the known Kentucky Confederate soldiers
interred in this cemetery. Also, there are photos of this cemetery.
I have also listed the names of soldiers whose units and/or states are
unknown. Please take a look at this list, also, and if you perhaps know any
of these soldiers let me know. If you know about any of these units please
let me know, too. I will pass this information on to

there is a connection somewhere with the Frisbey surname. So far I have not
found any thing. I have been told that his paternal grandparents are William
Frisbey and Ruth Walker. But I can't find them any where. I am told the
children of William and Ruth were born in Luzeerne Co, PA between the years
1787-1808. His mother's side are Byram and Gibson. But I feel that if Pack
is not a family name that they could have been very go

In the name of God, amen, I, James M. Pack Sr. of Summers County and State of
West Virginia being of sound mind do make this to be my last Will and
Testament as follows, that is to say:
1st after my decease I desire that my body may be buried at the direction of
my Executor herein after named.
2nd I direct that all my just debts be paid out of my outstanding bonds and
accounts as soon after my decease as may be convenient.

Yep, I've been saying this for three years now. :->
I belive there is every possibility that the Packs mentioned are ancestors,
or at least cousins, of our contemporary VA New River/KY/WV Packs. But the
exact lineage is not pinned down. We're missing dates, generations, etc.
Also, while I have seen this info published in several reputable magazines,
I have not seen any sources.
I think we're on fairly solid ground from Graves Pack forward, the Old
World Pack line should be considered unproven at best.
Ooops, I forgot the URL for the Confederate Cemetery web page

There is NO connection here. A few months ago someone else wrote this very
same thing and posted it to the list. I contacted The Rutherford B Hayes

was a Webb from Ohio. The only connection I can find is that some distant
relation Packs married into the Webb family but I do not know if this is the
same family. As far as they are concerned there is no connection.
President Hayes was also never in charge of a prisoner camp is

Sorry if you get duplicates of this message, but I want to make sure most

I have visited the Marietta National Cemetery in Marietta, GA and have
extracted the information on ALL soldiers from KY units who are interred
there. There are approximately 250+ soldiers buried there. These names
won't necessarily be all inclusive in the alphabetical order because there
are many that I want to verify the information on the headstone and take
photos. I have NOT verified the g

Does anyone have a text file copy of the will of Anderson Pack, b. 27 Aug
1800, died 4. mar 1858 ? He married Rebecca Snidow Peters 5 May 1829.
It is in the Snidow/Peters book. I don't have a copy of the book. I looked
through the archives and didn't find the will mentioned.
If you have just the image, from a scanner, I can probably run it through
some OCR software at work and make it into a text file.
Dear Vanessa:
A friend on the Greenbrier list forwarded your message about the Packs to me.
Let me introduce myself, my name is Carol Pack Urban. Matthew Pack and
Frances Katherine "Katey" Lilly were my ancestors. I descend from their son,
John Pack and his second wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" Rollyson. John and Betsy's
son, Albert, was my great grandfather.
You said: "As for your Rhoda Basham, from the info that I have, she was the
second wife of John Pack who was the son of Matthew Pack and Francis
