Hello to all.
The news this morning is not good. Joshua Gleeson was found dead in the Des
Plains River in Ill. by two fisherman at 7am yesterday morning. His sister
Ashley has not been found but things don't look good. I do have more details
that the police have not released, but am not anxious to share them. If you
would like to send a kind letter to the mother she can be contacted through
Sandy at: noordhof@swbell.net
The best place to go for info would be www.google.com

Hi everyone.
This might be out of place, but I know that the most won't mind this. One of
the members of one of the Rootsweb Lists has had the children of a member of
their family obducted by a murderer and I was hoping that you might take a
moment and look at the site information. Perhaps you might see something you
recognize, or can help them.
Here is the site information:

Looking for suggestions on where to find the above; I found them in the 1880
Census in Morrisdale, Pa but unable to find them in the 1900 Census or 1910
Census. I requested a Death Certificate of Francis as he is interred in St.
Agnes Cemetery or a Memorial is there. The Certificate came back as
no-record. Any suggestions where to go next. Perhaps the Memorial is
related to his death in WW1?
Thank you,

Robert and Emma had children named Austin and Alton. The below 1880 Census
records suggest some relationship, perhaps avuncular, that is not direct.
If the relationships were direct, then Emma (born ca 1869) and Robert (born
circa 1868) should be respectively listed in these families and this is not
the case. Also, Robert , if his reporting is correct, is Pennsylvania born.
Robert does report in all census except 1930 that his father was born in
Ireland.

Thomas Warren Letts was the son of Arvilla (Brown) Letts Hewitt. Arvilla had a
twin sister named Arilla. I'm thinking these two girls were probably named for
Thomas's mother and her twin sister.
To make things even more confusing-- ARRILLA was married to John Hewitt. When
she died in 1870, John Hewitt remarried to her sister ARVILLA. Make's your
head spin..... :-)

The "bench" is where the judge presides from - a "bench warrant" is when the
judge signs the order to have a person arrested - I would guess it was
likely that the defendant failed to appear for court, and the prosecutor

Jacquelyn - There's a couple of them:
1) A. Rosencrans is shown on the Lawrence Township map on page 180-181
at coordinates g,4. The house is shown along a road about a half mile
east outside of Clearfield Borough on the east side of the Susquehanna
River. There is no acreage listed.
2) J. Rosenkrans on the Hutson Township map on page 103 at coordinates
f,2. This shows that he owned about 150 acres about a quarter mile
south of Penfield along what is today highway 255 between that highway
and the Ben

Hope some one can help me out. I have the following sentence
in a court document from the 1930's:
June 15th, 1936 B.W. issued to Morris Jones, C. D.
Would B.W. mean bounty or bond warrant? Would C. D. mean County Deputy?
Maybe someone knows if Morris Jones was a Deputy. This was a
case of someone fleeing the State to avoid being named the
father of an illegitimate child. Also at the top of the document were
the letters written, "F. & B."
Thanks

Hello
I am new to the list.
Can someone tell me for 1900 census, what is the enumeration district, supervisor district, ward for HANNAH street for Clearfield Clearfield.

I have been asked how I obtained the above paper and so thought I would
answer to the list.
I located the microfilmed PA newspapers on the web site for the PA State
Library. (I will list the instructions below.) I then go to my public
library and make a request for an interlibrary loan. The papers do not
always come from PA tho. Some have come from MI. Many historical societies
and genealogical societies have the papers but do not loan them out. It
usually takes 6 weeks for them to come and you can usuall

Jim - There are none with that first name or a "B" initial. The
only one listed without any initial is found on the Janesville town

The lot number is 322 and is located on the north corner at the
intersection of Main and Chestnut streets.

There are only two Hitchings:
1) Hitchings, D. in the Bradford Township busness directory on page
212. He has 100 acres, uses the Woodland postoffice; was born in PA,
and is a farmer.
2) Hitchins, William is mentioned on pabe 12 which is part of the
Graham Township history. The quote is: "The first settlers were
Samuel Turner, the Mains, Edmund Williams, Jacob Hubler, Basil
Crowell, Conrad Kyler, and WIlliam Hitchins."

A while ago I was sent a picture of Ada Berringer as a little girl about 6-8 years old. So the photo is late 1890s.
I can't place Ada in the Berringer family info I have. They wrote Ada Beringer on the front of the photo.
The person trying to find out about Ada told me Ada lived with Amanda (Jones) Notley In the family photo, Ada is listed as adopted daughter.
In the 1910 census for Cambria Co., she is still living with Amanda and is age 20.
Anyone know this Ada? They lived in or near Cher
